Sounds like a case of Melonychia... don't worry! It's not a bacterial infection... but unfortunately it IS terribly embarassing! All it is is darkening of the toenails. It's like the opposite of those little white spots you can get on your nail. And ridges are so normal on toenails, especially the big toe. Do you polish your toenails? You could go for a cute, dark red to cover up that darkening. Contact your local pedicurist! Don't be shy! :)

Just because your nail is not yellow, that does not mean you do not have a fungus under them. It sounds like you need some Lama seal. Do not be ashamed of your feet. I do not think anyone has pretty feet. Mine are ugly to me and I wear shoes that are comfortable to me. As far as, a doctor goes believe me when I tell you that a doctor has seen much worse than your little foot issue.

get over the embarrassment, I would rather ask 1 person who knows about these things and could help me, than millions who will give you home remedies that won't work or refer you to a doctor

Sounds like toe-li-o.
Better tell the doc if you want any treatment - somebody who knows what they're doing needs to see 'em.
