We begin in a very simple way,
we sit in still empty silence,
forgetting what we know;
to welcome the unknown in us.
One must empty their cup,
of all the things known,
only then can we see with the one true eye.

Not only Christian can talk with the GOD in Hinduism It was said a long before that god was within U R self so try to understand U R self first. First Understand what U R and what is life is. U will find the reality and U will Know that the world is filled with MAYA.
There was a saying in Tamizh by an Azhwar.
Aasai arumin Aasai arumin Isnodainum Aasai Arumin.

The Meaning is that U must first understand all the thing in the world is a Maya and U must shed all U R all likings on all the things of the World as Maya is the one which is ever changing one. This is was in the Hindu mythology long back even some lacs and lacs of Years behind not that come from some few thousand years back.

Lord Krishna Says that everything is did by me and U R not doing anything first U must understood inorder to seek the god. This was told by the god in the Kritha Yuga. Which has been ended some 5000 years back.

When I answer similar questions, often I have only one answer to give. So this is a re-run for some who have read my answer.
simple meditation. This is a basic form of what I do. It's a mix of different types. It’s a powerful tool. First choose your mantra. This is a word of power, love, and life. I chose, "God", as I intend to be infused with, and maintain His spirit until next time. You can use any word, or short sentence meaningful to you. Another example of a good mantra is the word Love. I can't imagine using another mantra now, so take time with this. When you have it, get comfy. Use whatever position you fancy. Then deliberately go through every, single, tiny muscle in your entire body, (even the tiniest ones in your face), relaxing and filling each one with a protective, loving, healing white light from God. Do this while repeating your mantra silently. When you are completely relaxed and full of light, including your insides. Your body will be like it’s asleep, while your mind is wide awake. This can open you to spiritual contact. This is what makes the next action very important. Surround yourself with protective white light. I like to make all my white light sparkle & shimmer. Try not to think of anything except your mantra, and the sparkling white light. After this there are some variations you can try. Later. Sounds simple, but it’s not, it takes a great deal of commitment, determination, and concentration. Do this at the same time everyday.

That which is within man is a Most Magnificent Power.
That which is within man is yearning to be found.
That which is within man will be revealed when the walls surrounding "It" tumble and fall.
Locate and destroy these walls and allow this Most Magnificent Power to shine within man.

The qualities within mans heart can either be a wall or an opening to allow this Most Magnificent Power to flow within man.

Locating these walls and destroying them is called, "Zikr".
"The Rememberance of God the Divine"
As time passes this process becomes internal and is practiced with every living breath. It becomes a natural process. No effort is needed. Just breath.
This process predates any other known process.
Thanks to all of Gods Prophets (Peace Be Upon Them All).

As per rule what we practise that to be told. I am not concentrating to seek God with in me. But, I can convey what I came to know from the company of learned people. Basically you should know that you are god, " Aham Brahmasmi ". It is the fundamental principle to know god with in you, it is called "Advaitha"(Dvayam means Two. Advaitam means...there is no Two. Only "ONE" is existing), there is no difference between you and God. Both are same and one. But, our ignorance go on suspecting the statement. So we must get rid of that ignorance first. Then erase ego " I ". Treat every human being as God, since the same devine reside in their heart also. It is enough that you will feel devine presence. Another direct route to seek god is finding a true Guru, as Swamy Vivekananda got Ramakrishna Paramahamsa.

One way is through meditation. Deep breathing, focusing at first on your breath. You may want to count down with slow breaths first, if the above is difficult (borrowed from self-hypnosis). There is also the "four fold breath," breath in to four counts, hold to four, out slowly to four, and hold empty to four. Often the best way is to just breath deeply and slowly, allowing your mind to empty and ignoring distractions. If thoughts enter your mind don't fight them, just let them go.

You can also look in nature -- that may sound paradoxical, talking about in yourself -- but you and nature come from the same source. When you can enjoy nature by feeling a deep connection and kinship to the world around you (feels like love), you are connecting and getting closer to the source.

Both of these will aid the other -- meditation allows me to feel more wonder at the world around me.

Sit down in a quiet place with no distractions. Close your eyes if it helps, even close the blinds or curtains and lower the lights if you are having trouble calming your mind down, don't worry! God likes an active mind. Turn off the T.V. phone off, music off... Breathe in and out normally, get comfortable. Be yourself, don't do anything odd.

Then say a prayer, Father, please come in to my heart. Be quiet and comfortable. Then just be quiet till you feel like opening your eyes and getting up and back to business of the day. Don't worry about it. It's working!

You can make a prayer time like this every day. Just five little minutes... soon you will learn how to feel God's presence. You and he will take it from there.

You need to practice meditation. There's several meditation method you can follow.

Find a quiet place, sit down steadily. Empty your mind and deny others than Him. Recite His name until you become one with the name. That's the simplest method. Once you were there, you will understand. Spirituality experience is not the same from one to another.

Seek within yourself, there you'll also find God. It's not as hard as people make it out to be, you are an extention of God, therefore, to know yourself, is to know God.

That depends, is it the Holy Spirit? Is it the god of this world? Is it the god of your own mind?

If it is the former, quite prayer time, meditating on the Word of God.

The others, well, you need to ask someone else.
