and what do you believe is the real reason they bash Americans?

The basis of America bashing is fear. Not fear of anything we have done, but fear of what we could do. It is the nature of people to fear things that are beyond their control. America is , after the end of the cold war the world's only super power. Shortly after the Soviet Union fell, we got involved in the gulf war and the entire world saw the awesome power of our military. Suddenly they started to worry. Not because we had threatened them or had any intention to, but because we could. There was no longer another Super power to balance against us and keep us from using our military strength. As Yoda wisely put it, "fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate..." So even the people that had been our friends started mistrusting us and defaming us. The European Union was largly formed as a way to counter American strength. Now people let their irrational fear cloud their judgement and they attack America at every turn. Some circles are trying to weaken America by discrediting it and thus causing economic collapse. Others just incite vitriolic rhetoric to insure that foreigners despise Americans all over the world. The stupid thing is that by inciting fear and violence against America, they actually generate a situation where they have something to fear. When America defends itself from these unwarranted attacks, the proponents of these extremist philosophies claim it as evidence that they were right all along.

I dont think they come on deliberately to bash america. People ask questions and others just give their opinion. You can take it or leave it. I thought that Y!A was an open forum for people to express themselves openly and honestly. You have to take the good with the bad. Perhaps you shouldnt feel so sensitive, grow a thick skin or just ignore what you dont like. Remember you will always get those that like to stir the pot.

There are Americans as well as other people who bash other countries and ethnicities and cultures. They can dish it out but can't take it.

We are the only world superpower. The reason is envy plain and simple.
These other countries are way more nationalistic than we are (watch any international sporting event World Cup, Davis Cup, et al), so they think if they insult us it has the same effect on us as it would on them if we wasted our time insulting them.
They are really quite stupid, you know and hardly worth the effort.

because a lot of Americans take themselves very seriously and are somewhat arrogant. They can't laugh at themselves and are not used to criticism.

YES. It is just jealousy, right? They need to get busy building their own superpower, and stop bashing ours.
