Are you willing to compromise with the mother of the baby as to take turns to wake up when the baby starts to cry, to feed, bath, and change diapers...
these are things that i think both parents need to be involved with in order to have a healthy relationship with each other and learn together about raising a child, there's not always going to be good times, you need to have a steady job, steady income, and ofcourse medical aid or some kind of hospital plan
You can very well be a father to any child, but taking responsibility is something bigger, you want to be a dad, you have to be able to be there with your family through the toughest of times, you have to be committed.
I think that if you need to wait until you find the right woman, who you feel that you would want to marry and settle down with, and start a family with

You need MONEY. You need to have a financial plan to pay for your childs college education. That is very expensive. You want your child to have the best of everything available so that takes big money.
I presume you are married? You need to talk with your spouse about who will care for the child, who will do laundry, who will get up during the night when the child is sick, will extended family be involved, what kind of discipline will there be etc. This is a huge undertaking that lasts for the rest of your life and it is truly the most difficult job in the world. Very few people are prepared for or qualified to do the job. Good Luck

Be ready to financially support that child for at LEAST the next 18 YEARS!!! Before you spread your seed, make sure you're WELL set to possibly go through divorce, possibly multiple child-support payments, alimony--as what is the number of failed marriages nowadays? Remember, children don't just eat and sleep! They have dental appt's and work done (very costly); medical care; educational costs that can go up to the hundreds of thousands---AND, ALSO VERY IMPORTANT--A LOVING, CARING, CONSTANT DAD SUPPORTING THE WHOLE FAMILY!!
A TREMENDOUS RESPONSIBILITY goes along with the fun!!!! AND, that responsibility goes FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE!!

Be very careful who you pick to be the mother of your child. If you don't have like values and beliefs then it could turn into a disaster.
