Gazoo- It does not disagree with any holy text. It disagrees with a literal interpretation of some holy texts.

flandargo - I would like to hear more about your opinions. I can't understand why you consider theistic evolution to be unacceptable
Personally I don't think young earth creation to be cientificly or theologycally viable

Origin of life, and the development of all life forms, may take one of two major tracks :
1. Special Creation - God created broad categories of life forms in seven literal days.
2. Macroevolution - somehow a unicellular organism developed from inorganic materials, and from this all life forms evolved.
Theistic evolution tries to bring the two together. For various reasons (which I cannot go into here), this is unacceptable to BOTH Special Creation AND Evolution.
I accept Special Creation. I can respect the view of Evolution. I CANNOT even begin to consider Theistic Evolution as a viable option. I think it's the worst of the three positions. I'm trying to say it nicely.

I honestly believe it was used as a manner of explaining things originally, like : Why is that mountain spitting out smoke and liquid fire? The God of that mountain is Angry.
Then I believe as culture advanced admirable traits, and less admirable one became idolised hence the Greek and Roman Gods, they all had their own demain and definition. This however allowed for a division or political power there being many different followings.
I then believe some people though if they could unite religion into monotheism they could have a stranglehold on moral phylosophy and law. Remember although law is not dependant on religion now it used to be very much a factor.

Well that is fine to say that but there is no evidence for it. And most importantly it disagrees with every holy text ever written. So.....let's just make up another new idea to hang on to the idea of a god.
Added: It disagrees with the Bible in time, order, and mechanism. You can try to justify it all day, but there is no way the plants were around before the Sun. There is no way that ALL the plants were in place before all the animals. It doesn't agree in any way. So what you are saying is the Bible is factually wrong.

Rather like evolution but with the addition of a spurious god figure that starts it all. Occams razor says 'cut'.
Rugby for me, off to Paris next month!

Who has been fortunate enough ... ??
.. to have yet come across the Brilliant, Adam and Eve Prover:
TWO BIRDS ... ONE STONE!!, by genius Kinesiologist, Denis Towers, published via Xulonpress.com, 2007??
Upon a 9 year study, the author writes this work, which scientifically illustrates that Man and the snake are diametric opposites - both, 'functionally-anatomicall... and behaviourally.
It is a Master-work among the books that have been written!
An absolute MUST for believers and for Creationists.
If you want that elusive SCIENTIFIC proof of Adam and Eve and God, this is it!!!
Highly Unique among books.
Who has read it??
How did you enjoy it?
Rugby?
Yes; great game.
Personally, I prefer tennis, wall handball and Australian footy!

Theistic evolution is an attempt to keep one foot in each camp, just in case.
"I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth."
Revelation 3:15-16, KJV
My favorite sport is basketball (UNC Tar Heels). My second favorite is futbol (Guadalajara Chivas).

It's the most plausible form of any god belief, since evolution is undoubtably true.
Accepting this is the only way to rescue theism.
