Just check this news (dd.22.08.07, telling how the goverment will raise money selling "land that has lost its forest character"):

http://arama.hurriyet.com.tr/arsivnews.aspx?id=7130668

Then this (dd.25.08.08, telling about 9 forest fires in 9 different places):

http://www.hurriyet.com.tr/gundem/7154043.asp?gid=180&a=343063

and tell me why, for god's sake, why I should refrain from critisizing this government in the vilest terms?

All voters for this party: Congratulations!

Rick, my concern isn't about selling land to foreigners. My concern is policies that promote forest fires. Selling land to foreigners is, I guess, the subject of national and international law.

One must be a thickhead not to see the connection between the two.

What an economic program! Bravo, sell everything and raise money.

Oh, do I hear someone saying our economy is going great? *clap hands*

Its been going on for a while now even before AKP
the reason why I know this is that I am one of those foreigners trying to buy land and property in Turkey.
Sorry for that. anyway theres loads of Turks in the UK.

My wife's Cousin works for a civil planning department also her sister is an advocate in Turkey, they see it all going on.

Don't know how you can stop it so best bet is to go and get some land before all us foreigners and your mafia buy it all up.
its cheap now but it wont be for long.

Ps II flew back to UK 3 weeks ago from Dalaman and took photos all the way up past Izmir and canakkale from the air. and theres a serious amount of unspoilt coastline. so I wouldn't worry to much.
although as you say it is a scandle

Ps ps
I would hate to hear of any casualties to arriise from such a statement or anything similar to the fires in Greece. If so I would hold the AKP accountable for there part in it.

Selling the land to who? Foreigners? The government must be on some type of drug :-p All the Turkish land will then be owned by complete strangers, and the citizens can only sit back and watch this all play out. Sad.

The most disgusting part of it is they are doing by showing it openly and the ignorant people of Turkey is STILL voted for them.

Sometimes I get the feeling that we don't deserve any better If 50% people wanted them to be in the office again, maybe there is something wrong with US not THEM.

Like the Indian Cef's quote, they are going to eat and drink money bills after all the forests are gone or the rivers all dried up..... or hey!!!.. they have a better solution; they will go mass prayers for rain!!!....

Damn.. why do we worry, they already know what to do !!!!
