I've been seeing this new man for a few weeks, and he invited me to weekend to his country cottage. As soon as I arrived he said that he was going off to play golf.
Then he said, how did I feel about helping out a bit while he is gone? I said of course - and he gave me this paintbrush and three pots of paint, and said that I should get the sitting room done if I worked fast.
And then he came back at six o'clock and said that my brushwork was careless! But it was not! I only smudged one bit, and only because the ladder was not long enough.

He asked me, too, if I had any experience in plumbing or roofing.

Ok, it looks like Mr. Wonderful is an absolute ASSHOLE!!! I would tell him YES and then disassemble his kitchen and bathroom and leave it like that, unmount the toilet and DONT TURN OFF THE WATER! Then the paint would be art deco'd thruout the house and then I would get back into my car and be outta there, what a JERK!!! When he asks what happened you tell him that you just decided that you had enough and left everything, left the cottage and perhaps someone else he screwed, or screwed over got ahold of his cottege. Deny Deny Deny...what a jerk what a big f-ing jerk! Your getting waaaaaay ****** over and played and he is going to use you as a story to tell his golf buddies down the road, such an asshole, I would have to be locked up to keep from killing him!!! Unless your on camera its your word against his. I think anybody who was told that he asked you to paint, and do plumbing and work in his cottage when it was supposed to be a Romance would stick it to him so he would learn his own lesson!!! Good Luck hun.-Rachel.

eek...i would have certainly put my foot down on that one chicky. First off, if you're going to paint a house why not make a night of it and do it TOGETHER?! Secondly, if your work was "careless" then maybe he should have hired a professional. He sounds like an ungrateful man and my advice to you: RUN and dont look back! He'll throw you into a Cinderella role and no women HAS to fall into the house wife stereo type,

I can't believe you even asked this question. Give that clown a bill for services rendered. (He can deduct for the smudge, but only a small amount because you are admittedly not a professional, nor were you informed of this arrrangement prior to accepting his invitation). Hopefully though, this is just a gag.

You allowed yourself to be used as a painter and who knows what else after a relationship of only a few weeks. I'd say you should maybe set your standards just a wee bit higher in the future.

If you have to ask the question then there is something wrong to begin with...I'd say if you didnt feel appriciated and critisized and left then why even worry about it ...it wasnt worth the trip and he isnt worth your time or effort...if he is really interested in you he will realize that you are an asset to the relationship and maybe come around if not...well dont put yourself out there to do his odd jobs and see what comes out of it..good luck...

are you actually mad?
what is wrong with you that you would even consider painting this idiots house ??
i would have painted a few choice words largely on his walls and the rest of the paint would be over his furniture/belongings... then i would say no i dont have much plumbing experience but take a look at my art work!!!!
GET SHUT OF THIS FOOL!!

Girl, why aren't you listening to your gut feelings? You know deep in your heart and gut that you're being used.
Your gut is never, ever wrong. It tells you what you know is true but too often choose to ignore it.
That man is using you. What will it take for you to realize this? After you've practically repaired his entire house?
Get out now. He cares nothing for you.
You deserve so much better and you know it. So move on.
