Is it possible to create fire?
I was thinking. We can all see heat like on the road on a hot day or just above the fire. Like heat waves. And fire is the heat waves just more concentrated right?
So my question is can we focus heat energy enough to create fire? Almost like the Buddhists that dry wet towels on their body.
And if you think that it is possible, do you think im on right track?

After seeing and experiencing the impossible. I believe in anything. Focus and intent I say would be where it would begin.

I'm not sure of what you are asking, so if you don't think I answered, try asking again.

Obviously, it is possible to create fire with a match or spark. But I think you are asking if fire can be created by focusing or concentrating "heat waves". The answer is no. Heat waves are an optical effect. The air over a hot asphalt parking lot is expanding rapidly and has lower density compared to the surrounding air. What you see is distortion of the view as you are looking through the atmosphere.

Now the fact that heat waves are occuring indicates a heat source. That heat source is giving off radiant energy. For a hot parking lot, the radiant energy is infrared light which is not visible to the human eye. However, it carries energy. Theoretically, it is possible to focus that radiant energy and create a fire, just like using a magnifying glass to focus sunlight. The trick is you need a material that is optically transmissive to the wavelength of the radiant energy. First figure out the wavelength of the heat source (this is totally dependant on the temperature - the hotter the temperature, the shorter the wavelenght). Then find a material (glass, germanium, silicon, zinc selenide, plastics, other) that is transmissive at that wavelength. You can then make a lens from that material to focus the radiant light. If the source has sufficient energy and the lens is large enough, you can create a fire.

But matches are a whole lot easier.

I'm not quite sure exactly what you're asking here. If you're asking if we can channel enough heat energy and create fire spontaneously then no. Fire requires a fuel in order to keep burning, hence why you don't get fires springing up on tarmac etc. since there is no fuel present to allow burning in the tarmac (with the exception of oil/fuel that may have leaked on).

Fire isn't strictly highly-concentrated heat waves. Rather it's the heat energy given off by a fuel as it is burning. Just because something radiates heat doesn't mean it'll create fire.

What you see on the road on a hot day is called an inferior mirage. It is not 'heat waves' and it is not a less concentrated form of fire. It's just light reflected by air.

Sounds plausible. At first, I didn't think so but ppl like that John Edwards (the psychic) and Derren Brown do things with their minds that a regular person can't, so I don't see why not. I guess it would take a lot of concentration and practice.

Even though thought is powerful, there are still physical limitations on earth. For example, no matter how much energy I put into trying to get pregnant...it's not going to happen because I'm male. So, I don't think it's possible...

i think it is possible cuz there are a lot of people who can use their energies in right way .so they can remove mountains with alternative medicine .and objects are moved by them by their eyes or energies . but i really dont know how we can use our energy to creat fire .

Wouldn't this be like using a magnifying glass to concentrate the sun's rays?

Err..if you mean with your mind--No. If anyone were able to do that it would be simple to prove in a lab. No one has, so it can't be done.

FYI: Heat doesn't travel in waves. It is motion on an atomic level.

Wrong

Fire Takes Oxygen, fuel and ignition.

Even if you can manipulate enough energy you couldn't conjure matter to feed the flame.
