Dear friend, I'm afraid it is so...

Man's doing will be his own end...

Some are trying to save our planet. Let's pray it is enough.

No. The planet will not end at all, at least not for millions of years. And when it does, it will not be the doing of mankind. The problems we are facing are not so extreme as you suppose and the situation is not so dire and hopeless as people here seem to think. Get over you depression. Get some perspective. Things are FAR batter today than they were 1,000 years ago, or even 100 years ago. We have some pollution problems, like global warming, but those are so small compared to the constant death, disease, slavery, and other problems people have endured in the past. If you thing the past was better, you have an incorrect view of how it really was. If you think we are doomed soon because of our own actions, you have a distorted view of reality. Global warming and pollution of all kinds is just NOT going to kill us. It just isn't! It may cause some changes we don't like, maybe driving many kinds of animals to extinction, but it will NOT kill US.

The planet istelf is a pretty large, resilient chinck of rock.

The biosphere on the panet is also remarkably resilient. Even things like global warming or whatever else we might do to it (or could happen naturally) will not destroy it. By its nature it maintains an eqilibrium.

Now, that equilibrium will shift due to these changes, and it might not shift in a way that is convenient for humans or other species, but given any balance point, a set of species will always fill the available niches.

The suffering of mankind brought about by communism, socialism and now radical islamo-fascism is sure to attempt to end our stay on this planet. We may survive or we may not, but the planet will survive. Even if a meteor hits it.

Yep , 'til next time . As long as there's been a way of recording it , people have written of everything going down the drain, and the world coming to an end. Somehow we're still here . Doomsday scenario worries seem to be as much a part of human nature, as the problems that lead to them . I think we'll be OK .

It appears so. No natural events can rationally explain what's going on. This will lead to the extinction of life on land, at the very least , unless technology collapses soon enough to prevent that. After reading the responses on here, it leaves little doubt that intelligent intervention is facing aggressive opposition. Alas, in nature, aggression usually helps to make up for deficiencies in other ares, and in our bloated population it has come to dominate.

The planet--the many species of plants and animals--are going to survive jsut fine. The question is whether we will be one of them.
