I am also wondering if I should get another estimate, or is it possible to order a part and repair it myself? I've done that with an appliance & saved a bunch of bucks. Sure do hate throwing it away.

LCD screens on any device cannot be repaired- laptops, digital cameras, TVs, computer monitors etc. If the LCD breaks or goes bad, the entire LCD screen must be replaced, which is often so expensive that it's almost easier to buy a new one.

I see Cybershot T100s currently selling for around $330, so in your case, repair (which is really screen replacement) at half that price, makes sense.

If you paid close to the estimate for the camera a year ago then you'd be better off (IMO) buying a new one.

Digital cameras are a bit more complicated than an appliance. If you're so inclined you could certainly give it a try.
