This is a tough one, since it involves *balance*. I have taught MS and HS vocal music since 1971. I have had MANY kids with tons of natural talent, who think *that is enough*. They are stubborn, stuck in a rut, and basically unteachable. They get frustrated easily, because all their cute little-kid lives, people have gushed over them. Now, when they CAN move ahead - they think that WORK is superfluous - *Everybody says I have natural talent!". So - they end up crashing and bruning - and SULKING - couldawouldashoulda. The PLUGGERS - the ones who work slow and steady - end up making the top choir, All-State, and getting into good music colleges.

Do NOT confuse this serious advice with the sappy *oh, girl, if it is your passion just sing and you will get discovered* advice - because that is a fairy tale. Nothing works for you like WORK - get the best teachers, stay focused, stay away from trashy scams (like you need MY advice on that one - you know when they smell bad!). Always represent yourself well - even if you GET famous, you do not want horrible facts and photos from HS making into into some celebrity tell-all show!

Of course, someone with natural ability who ASLO works their butt of - well, there is not telling how far THEY can go! Often, what does them in is LIFE issues - too much money, drugs, insincere relationships, etc. too soon. Think of people with LONG successful careers - and model yourself after THEM.

It normally is natural talent, but if you're willing to actually do singing, then you can get training, and it does take lots of time and dedication for you to keep going.

I think singing is a natural talent that God has given you but some people train their voice to be good; Example like: Ashanti

I think it takes a lot of work, and requires considerable natural talent as well.

You can take someone (almost anyone) off the street and with the right training, technique and practice they could become good.

But to become sensational you need 'it' - raw talent and star quality.

I think it's a natural talent. You can improve yourself with lessens, but true talent is just natural.
