February is the cheapest time of year to visit NYC. Hotel rates go down. And most of the stores sell off cheaply what they couldn't sell for the holidays.

Look into some of the smaller, budget airlines, like JetBlue, for your travel. As for accomidations, think like a European backpacker and find a hostel. You won't have the luxury and convenience of a hotel, but you can find a warm bed, save some money, and probably meet some interesting people. Go to hostelbookers.com to find a list of hostels in NYC.

Hi try purchasing your flight as soon as possible. Also....
check out the airline sites directly because sometimes they
could have good deals without paying for the booking fees.
I just went to NY at the begining of Aug. and I stayed at The Pod hotel. Very nice and hip hotel and very inexpensive check it out. http://www.thepodhotel.com/
Also....check out tripadvisor.com great help with hotel reviews. http://www.tripadvisor.com/
Hope this helps:)
Best wishes!

web search for the best deals. and the longer you book in advance the better your deal. you will not get any cheap or near free flights, however.
