I believe in God and Jesus, I know they love me and just want me to be a good person to myself and everyone and thing around me, so we can catch up one day in the far future ( I hope) and have a chat. I have never read the Bible and never will, I dont need proof or reasurance from anyone. The only words im interested in are ones God has writtten himself ,on his own pen and paper, wich we all know do not exist ,not which in my opinion the bible is hear say. Do Christians forget what God is all about, LOVE, not all of the negativity and judgments involving the words of the bible.

"Do Christians get so caught up in the words they forget the message?"

All the time my friend, all the time.

It's called legalism and it's the biggest problem in Christianity today.

God hates sin. He hates it because it pulls people away from Him. Some Christians get caught up in fighting against sinful practices not noticing the sinful practices they commit daily. Gluttony and gossip are committed in every church I've ever seen and yet I've never seen Christians picketing McDonalds or the candy/soda aisle! Its okay for a Christian to recognize sin as sin. It's wrong is when that is their focus. A Christian's job is twofold; to love others more than they love themselves and to share Christ's love with others.

If you don't read God's Word you can't know God. All scripture is God breathed. He wants us to spend time in His Word so we can know him better. That MUST be part of your faith. Jesus' words have been recorded and you should at least know what He says. You will be blessed!

You can watch every episode of Falwell or the 700 Club. You can read the Bible backwards & forwards, attend church every Sunday without fail..... and walk around like you are 3 ft off the ground all you want to.
But if you honestly think ALL THAT makes you stand at the front of the line at the gates..... your fooling yourself, and your own reflection. God knows we are fallible & NOT capable of all that.... we are "HUMAN".
"Faith" and "Belief" is really just as simple as they both sound. The sooner people "wake up" to this fact, the quicker they will quit trying so darn hard and open themselves up to all that there is awaiting them. The possibilities are endless.

You've made some interesting points here. But let's not forget that our definition of love is going to be much different than God's. Scripturally, love is not just about accepting everything for what it is, but rather striving for what it was intended to be. In other words, God's love includes truth, discipline, and yes, even wrath at times. When Jesus turns over the tables at the Temple (John 2), it's not out of unjust anger, it is out of righteous love.

Often it has been my experience that those who say "God is love" want to feel good about themselves and have some kind of notion that "organized religion" is beneath them. (Note: I'm not accusing you of this, I'm reporting what I have seen through the years.) Those that want to go to church to feel good about themselves are missing the point. When the prophets spoke to Israel, they spoke truth, they spoke the very words of God, and it certainly didn't make the Israelites feel comfortable. The very nature of the gospel is to be uncomfortable - to realize that there is something more to life than what we have.

God inspired the bible as a blueprint to live your life by,showing how we should love one another as members of one body i agree that through the ages people could have tried adding or taking away from it but God said not one jot or tittle should be added to or taken away and i dont believe He would allow someone to lead us astray by reading the word(truth)

Yes, I agree with you, but I find that since we started going to a non-denominational church I have come away with a lot less negativity and judgments as opposed to when I am within a particular denomination, as nobody there is DICTATING to you how to live, what to wear, what to do. Anyone who knows me know I have a major issue with being told what to do and how to live.

Our "sermons" reference the Bible for about five verses but it is more like going to a college class or seminar...not a class about the Bible, but how to live a good, fulfilling and happy life and that is something my husband and I appreciate. It is kinda like hearing from Dr. Phil with reference to Christianity and I love Dr. Phil!

God, to the best of my knowledge, has never used pen and paper. God has only burned words into stone. Those words were placed on paper by people and then many copies over the years were made by people.

I guess you want God to run a Xerox machine.

Interesting concept. I don't think I will accept it.

definite, i understand a guy like that. he's taking the bible to the intense and twists it- relies upon on the bible extra advantageous than God, hes rude to his spouse and claims the bible says that adult adult males are extra suited than women people, so he makes his spouse walk to her interest via fact he believes she shouldnt artwork (all of their infants are over 18). He additionally tells his spouse that God would be mad at her while they argue etc. He believes he's God quite....extensive hypocrite, and hes a pastor. He only doesnt understand what he's doing is incorrect. i think if he knew of the wear he brought about and how affecting this is to those around him, he does no longer proceed. Ironic that the bible teaches approximately that as properly. I examine the bible to earnings extra approximately Jesus' existence, to pay attention from God, etc. however the genuine situation is in my prayer, I actually have a dating with God. The bible is the certainty, the be conscious, yet its of this earth- a mundane situation, while God and His techniques are no longer. i like to be closer to Him. that's what its all approximately. this is an incredibly stable question :)

If a secretary wrote the words of her boss, does this mean that the letter isn't written by the boss?

If you want to know this boss who you've never seen before (and please him), wouldn't you read about him through his letters instead of making up his personality in your own mind?

If the letter said that the boss hated violence, would you take pleasure in violent entertainment? If the letter said the boss valued love and strong relationships, do you think it would please him if you had casual sex all the time?
