HDMI stands for: High Definition Multimedia Input !

If you're familiar with the old standard RCA connectors which where typically Red, Yellow and white then HDMI is the enw standard for audio/video connectivity.

And unfortunately, hdmi components will not work on a standard tv set. HDMI is designed for high definition tv's that can display an aspect such as 720p or 1080i.

Standard tv sets can only display a resolution of 480 lines !
