Jesus tells us in the Bible that the Father (God) in Heaven knew us before were were formed in the womb. Therefore it is my belief that it is just the opposite! I have always thought that if New Born Babies could talk to us they could tell us all about God the Father.I think new born are very in tune with the angels, and God. Am I wrong? Is ther Biblical proof that we are born atheist? If so please tell me the scripture in the Holy Bible that tell this so that I will know this for sure. Prove me wrong. I am judging no one. I simply want to know if my personal beliefs are wrong.

A human child is born believing in what he or she can see and be stimulated by. In the earliest months food, sleep and being clean are the needs most generally expressed.

I don't think it is correct to suggest that a child is born an atheist or a Christian or anything else. The child is born a human being. Christians believe a child is not accountable for sins until he or she has learned about sin and forgiveness and obeyed the Gospel, which means choosing baptism.

Jesus said to bring the small children to him, that the faith of a small child should be an example to adult believers, and "of such is the Kingdom of Heaven." He meant children are born uncorrupted, ready to accept Him and without the stain of sin.

It is possible, in my opinion, that babies may have seen God and angels, however they do not retain this memory into childhood or adulthood. I believe that they--unlike atheists, who must choose to disbelieve--are open to being convinced about all aspects of religion, including disbelief.

Jesus also warned us not to corrupt children.

I think there is plenty of Biblical wisdom that can be applied to any human's life. For those of us who do believe, learning how best to apply that wisdom is the challenge of being a Christian. For those who reject belief--young or old--they have made a choice. Humans are not born with that choice already made.

I don't know of any Bible scripture that says we are all born unbelievers. When my children were babies I would go to their cribs and see them looking up at something I couldn't see. They would smile and laugh. They would be kicking their little feet and waving their little arms. I think they see angels! I think they know God the Father & God the Son. I see nothing in your question that says that babies are born religious. The bible does indeed state that the Father knew us before we were formed in the womb. So I agree with you.

Here's my theory, but it's not supported by Scripture (well, it sort of is, but there isn't any that's specific on the subject):

I think someone else mentioned one of the many passages where it's said that God "knitted" or "formed" the narrator together in his mother's womb. One of these is in Job 31.

I believe that's actually true. I think our souls are literally with God before they come to earth. Not necessarily that we're in heaven with God, but just that we're with God.

SOME of us are able to hold on to that, maybe not in a real "memory" per se, but more that it's psychological, and subconscious. And THAT'S why even children raised in atheist homes sometimes wind up becoming Christians, and why some people raised in Christian homes wind up becoming atheist.

I believe that once a person CHOOSES to believe in God (which is what it is, a choice), God's voice and His love become clear, and real. We may not "remember" being with God in a tangible sense, but it's locked up in our subconscious, buried deep under the trauma of coming out of our mother's womb.

I don't believe that a person is necessarily born Christian, Muslim, atheist or whatever, but we ARE born with a predisposition to whatever path we choose, even if we're not aware of it. And THAT is because of how we're wired.

I probably didn't explain this very well; I tried to do it in as few words as possible. But that's the gist of it.

You asked a very interesting question.
Psychologists say that a child's mind is "tabula rasa"...a blank table. Nothing is written yet at birth. As the child grows inputs from the environment accumulates in the mind. The five senses eyes, ears, smell, taste, and touch are the gateways through which knowledge gets into the mind.
The people around the child determine what the impressions will be.
Your question can be the springboard of a very, very long discussion. But definitely you will enjoy the stories about it.

"Is ther [sic] Biblical proof that we are born atheist?"

What the hell kind of question is that? If you really are seeking an answer to such a question, the bible wouldn't be the place to find it.

And, even though I don't agree with you at all, your personal beliefs can never be wrong - they can be misguided or ill-formed, but not wrong. It's a belief, after all, not a statement of fact.

If this were true, then there would be no atheists and the other several thousand other religious beliefs in the world Really, if that were really true, everyone on the planet would be at least some form of Abrahamic belief. Millions of people in the world are not any form of Abrahamic belief, not to mention there are so many different Christian denominations that can barely agree on anything. Its not a biblical truth, its a basic fact, I am almost sorry to tell it to you. Religious beliefs are a personal choice.

I don't know who sais that, but look at it this way: religion (obviously, not Christian, but still...) was the center of social life in primitive and ancient times. Who did primitive men learn it from? It also appears that humans have a "God cluster" in their brain, which allows religious experiences... Truth be told, it is difficult to say...You'd have to raise a child outside of society to see if he becomes religious or not, but if you raised a child outside of society, he won't be able to communicate his thoughts to you or develop like a human being... My personal belief is that people, by their nature, believe in something. They need that. That is why, from the dawn of time, so many religions and cults were born and that atheism is something that comes later in life, usually on the background of dissapointment and as a cultural choice rather than a natural state.

When a baby is born, he/she has no knowledge of right and wrong. When a baby or young child dies, they go straight to Heaven because they have never understood right and wrong. I cannot prove you wrong, because in a sense you are correct. Some people do believe that when a child is born they are an atheist and full of sin, and so then christening, but this is not true.

I hope this has helped you,

Here's one for you.

If you're right everyone that was brought up without being told about religion would become christian. This is unlikely, because all across the world some people will not be taught religion. And, it would make advertizing religion completely redundant. We both know that's not how it works.

No one ever told me there is a God, but on the other hand, the idea was not really discouraged either. My parents, both atheists, even made me go to bible class because ''it's the way it's supposed to be.''

How do you account for the fact I'm atheist now?
