john_d, you have fallen foul of your own knowlage, and contradicted yourself. you seem unable to allow the existance of other faiths, yet expect other faiths to subscribe to your beliefs. sorry, but you can't have it both ways. and yes, i can physicaly see the wind at work, proof positive. 'satan' ah. no. very poetic attempt, but no cigar

Well christianity has been changed so much over the centuries from the original concept and doctrines. The reason for this is that pre christian belief systems and cultures(ie pagan!) had to be incorporated into the religion to make it acceptable. This is particularly true of western christianity. After all christianity is an EASTERN, SEMITIC religion, as were its first followers. The whole virgin birth thing goes back to the greco-roman cult of Diana etc.

So the answer is YES, they are influenced! Im an Assyrian Christian, oldest church there is, but even the Assyrian church has been influenced.

Pagans do not believe in Satan, Satanists do!

Pagan religion predates christianity, therefore the concept of the christian devil would not have been known to them.

Paganism can be anything from Animism, Shamanism, Wicca, Nature Worship through to Ancient Mesopotamian, Egyptian and Greco-Roman religion....so its not a catch all term anyway!

I think most of the anti-pagan christians and those who do not respect the beliefs of others are led more by their fears of satan, and their insecurites about people who have different faiths than theirs. If people have strong beliefs and spirituality that is not Christian based, then it must be of satan according to them because they could never actually be right, because if they were it throws their whole idea out the window.

I think that a much GREATER concern is that Christians are influenced by things that DON'T exist, but that they DO believe in... like Satan... God... evil spirits... heaven... hell.

Faith-based 'belief' itself is the problem... such belief is the ILLUSION of knowledge... i.e., self-delusion.

Over 80% of the people in the USA profess religious 'belief'. Any 'property' that is represented in that high a percentage of a population defines what is 'normal. So... from that... we can safely conclude that insanity (delusion) is 'normal'... in the USA, at least... and that the inmates are running the asylum.

Satan? You mean the guy in a red body suit with pointy ears who runs around with a pitchfork through the demon-infested fire pit? Good question, but rest assured, he has absolutely zero influence on this particular Wiccan.

We can be influenced by things that we have not faith in but have an effect on our environment hence that we don't believe.
True Christians are guided by the one true God and have His protection and support with God putting restrictions on Satan (see the story of Job in the book of Job in the Bible.) as seen in this story satan can tempt and torment the righteous, this is God allowing man to exercise their faith and strength it.
So by tempting a Christian you maybe strength them and they are told to rejoyce in all things. They have already won the victory in and through Jesus and do this in God's name, time and place, in appropriate manner.
Would too like to find out more about the Christian faith? If so cneck out a good Christian Church and learn more.

Yeah, they don't believe that their Devil can influence them since they acknowledge his existence and follow a book. They claim that everyone will go to hell unless __________, unless________, unless______. And god forbid you have an opinion and a mind to find answers on your own! Please! They are always the ones to cast the first stone. Sounds like the works of their Devil to me, don't you think?

The Devil is making you push the thumbs down button!!!
You will go to hell unless you repent! Repent Repent!!
*Seriously, to the thumbs down people, if you believe in your faith, what do you care what we think? You may not like my answer but that's how I feel. I don't push my beliefs onto you, so why do it to us??

Pagan is a bit of a general term because Satanists also call themselves pagans. But for most pagans Satan does not exist as it is a christian invention. so, as paganism came before christianity how can a pagan be influenced by something made up by a christian?

If you don't believe in something that is as obvious as the wind, that is up to you.

Christians are not affected by beings they do not believe in. This is easily established by Logic.

If we accept the existence of God, and that God loves and protects those who love God.

We can also accept that God protects those who believe in God from things that those who believe in God do not believe in.

Therefore Christians should not fear things they do not believe in because God will protect them from those things.

Now some dolt, without a shred of reason in their being will point to the book of Job and say that God did not protect Job. God did protect Job, before and after the trials. In any case, Christians believe in Satan so the argument would be unreasonable.

Further, the argument I have presented, although logical, is moot since by definition Christians realize that they are sinners and do not know everything.

Since Christians are sinners and do not know everything they expect to be confronted by problems that defy their understanding, but, which they can understand when they depend on God.

Proverbs 3:5
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
