I love baby showers!! One of the most special things is a personalised theme. Something the mum to be will love that suits her personality or theme she has chosen for nursery etc...
My baby shower had the theme, "frogs and snails and puppy dog tails, thats what little boys are made of" as the people organising knew we were having a boy. Everything was decorated to this theme. everything from food to nappery to present wrappings and invites. The though that went into it was not missed by me.
Make sure the games are fun and quirky and that there is enough food and drink for all.
A 'throne' for the mum to be is a nice touch. A comfy chair decorated with baby paraphernalia or 'queen for a day' items like tiara, wand etc...
Also a cake with a heartfelt message on it makes it really personal too.
Most of all make sure mum has a wonderful time, wait on her hand and foot and have fun!

Oh and a great game idea is get a roll of string/twine and all the guests have to cut off a piece to the length they think will fit around mum to be's tummy (without measuring it around her). When everybody has their piece of string, you check it around the tummy and whoever's gets the closest end to end wins a prize. Its nice for mum to keep also to see how big her tummy is the next time she is pregnant (is she has another one that is!)

you could put jelly beans in a baby bottle have the guest guess how many.
Also take tolit paper or yarn and have them guess how big mommy is.
how well do you know mommy ask questions about the mommy.
For favors you could have candles made with a poem on it.
have the candles in baby food jars or just use tea light candles and wrap them in tulle and ribbon with a poem.
for other ideas here are some pages to look at
good luck and have fun
you will also need prize gifts
like gift cards or candles, anything like that

I just had my baby shower last weekend, some of the games we played were....

baby word scramble

baby bingo

When all the guests arrived they were given 4 clothes pins to stick on themselves anywhere, once al the guests had theyre pins no one was allowed to say teh word baby, whenever some one did another person who caught them could take a clothespin. The one with the most pins at the end of the shower wins a prize.

Put a paper plate on top of your head and draw a baby on it, the person with best look ing baby wins a price.

well blindfolded give the person a pair of oven mitts to out on and then a pair of panty hose. see who can get them on the quickest, whens a prize. (this is pretty funny)

At my baby shower we played a game with diapers and candy bars. we mushed up the candy bars, and put it in the diaper and the guests had to smell it and guess what kind of candy bar it was...it sounds gross, but it's funny to see grown women smelling diapers! good luck

The last one I was at had as one of its games - baby food testing - you had to identify the flavour of baby food. On a paper plate, we each got a spoonful of various baby foods - both savoury and sweet, and had to name the flavour. It was both fun and disgusting!
