I like Dale Jr. But I think he should just accept what HMS gives him. The more he keeps trying to get a certain number, the more he looks like a spoiled brat that has to have things his way. When drivers leave one team to join another, they lose the number and usually the sponsor. Jr needs to accept the consequences of his decision to leave DEI. Get over it Jr, this is your own doing.

I say it does not matter what # dale jr is in next year because he will do great in any number he gets. I do think he needs to start fresh. A new team and a new number. I will be behind him all the way!!!!!!!

GO JR GO ONE RACE AT A TIME!!!!!!

I think Nascar should just take ALL the numbers back, let Jr pick his number, then Nascar can give the remaining numbers back out to the teams. Then go ahead and give him the championship this year. Get the statue of Jr ready for when the Nascar hall of fame opens in a couple of years.

Of course I'm kidding, but this is getting ridiculous! Jr's the first driver to switch numbers? Heck NO, not even close!

Aren't you a brain child.
David Gillilands number and owner of the number is Yates and Yates and DEI are together now. Wonder what the odds are of that happening?
NONE
I know it's a shame that he can't have the 8 but that is the way it goes.
What no one is saying here is he could of had the 3 car to drive but he chose not too yet. Childress said the only way the 3 car was coming back out was if a Earnhardt was driving it and I am pretty sure he wanted Jr to be that Earnhardt.

Anyone realistic Jr fan (there are some out there) knew his number would change, if Teresa didn't want to give him much of what he wanted with DEI she wouldn't be willing to give up the 8...and though it would be nice to see him story his racing career in the 8 like his dad did with the 3 it's just a number and he can make some other number his own, on his own.

Even NBA, NFL, and other sports players try to get certain numbers sometimes when they switch teams or come from college. Not a big deal.

If Jr. wants to try for a number special to him why should anyone care? and if he gets it, great... and if he doesn't , life will go on.

just think about all the fans that have bought the 8# what are they going to do with all that merchandise. so you would think jr's new number would have an 8 in there somewhere how about 888 never seen that who knows what's going to happen. only time and money will tell.

I heard on the news yesterday that Robert Yates is offering to work a deal with Hendricks for the number. I think it would be really cool and I think a lot of Robert Yates for offering.
