Anybody ever watch programs on the foot network where the ingredients the host uses are covered by some weird or never heard of brand that looks like a popular brand that everybody knows of? why do they do that?

It is actually a matter of copyright - if a programme is advertising a product without the consent of the manufacturer in order to sell one of their own products, then they are liable to pay damages as they are using someone else's product for their own benefit.

I agree that it is actually free advertising for the manufacturer in question, but it's also the fact that they haven't given their consent for this company to be advertising their product in the first place. I suppose that it could be preceived as "stealing", effectively.

Hope this helps!

If you were Heinz would you want to see Emeril using Del Monte kethup? And yes the network wants to be paid for advertising. Pepsi paid a fortune to have E.T. drinking Pesi in the Star Wars movie.

it would be like they were getting free advertisement if they didn't cover it up. Watch some old Roseanne shows. They used to change a letter or "redo" a name, or logo.

if the label is shown it would be free advertisement. for a label to be shown the company has to pay the network.
