A Glagow Coma Scale (Glasgow liege scale) provides a score ranging from 3-15. Patients with scores of 3-8 are usually said to be in a coma.

To be honest when I first started posting here I spent a great deal of time here. But nowadays it's not unusual for me to log on, read what's new and realize it's the same old stuff and go work in the garden or something. You just have to dig too deep to find any real questions anymore. This will be my third question to answer all day today and I only answered one yesterday. So.. on a scale of 1-10 I probably rate a 2 if that high. I guess at this rate I can soon kiss my "Top Contributor" button good-bye. ;)

eye opening -spontaneously(4), to verbal command(3), to pain(2), no response(1)

motor response - to verbal command(6), to painful stimuli -- localize pain(5), flexes and withdraws(4), assumes flexor(3), assumes extensor(2) --, posturing(1), no response(0)

verbal repsonses(arouse pt. with painful stimuli if necessary) - oriented and converses(5), disoriented and converses(4), uses inappropriate words(3), makes incomprehensible sound(2), no response(1)
