Not all "trads" are strange ... nor do even a majority of them believe that there's any problems with the papacy.
The changes that were mandated by the 2nd Vatican Council were good reforms that were later poorly implemented, resulting in a host of negative results ... first among them the current child abuse scandals by a small but very damaging number of corrupt priests and bishops.
When things don't go as they should, authentic Catholics revert to the age old practice of comparing the "two witnesses" of scripture and sacred tradition with present day teachings and practices.
If the present day stuff doesn't match up, then they know it's time for some serious reform ... and the first thing Catholics begin to reform is their own families. Only then they look at what needs to be done with the rest of the church ... and that's just as it should be.
The present pope was thoroughly involved in the 2nd Vatican council proceedings, and he played a very major role in the church during the last 40 very turbulent years, but since the beginning of his papacy, he has been not only a very good teacher, but a uniter of all Catholics, as well ... including the "trads" ... who were probably the group that was most severely impacted by the post Vatican II fiasco.
And while having large families may seem "countercultural" today ... and it certainly is ... don't knock it until you've tried it.
Big Catholic families are some of the most loving and fully functional families you're likely to find ... because Jesus, as well as the only church he ever founded ... remains firmly at the center of those families.
If that's wierd, then so be it!

Because "they practice the catholic faith of how it was before the changes from the Second Vatican Council." You answered your own question.
Plus, it may be weird because we're just not used to it; because the majority of people aren't like this. That's why.

i'm a Catholic and yeah I agree those Catholics do sound strange and extremely previous formed I even have heard which you will circulate to mass that's suggested in latin i understand there's a church in Edinburgh the place I stay the place the mass is asserted in latin. To me going to mass suggested in latin may be incredibly strange and distant places and in all probability scare me off and not in any respect decide to return. to each and each Catholic international extensive the Pope who ever he's. To us he's Gods consultant in the international and he has been chosen for a purpose and he guides us and leads us. That to me is who the Pope is. those Catholics won't be able to %. and choose their own Popes he has already been elected and is living in Rome. And definite it is commonplace for ANY Catholic relatives to have extensive families rather formerly the discovery of birth control yet to catholics birth control is against our faith thats why you have such extensive families. My question may be in case you had one in each of those extensive relatives of 13 or 14 different siblings how are you able to have the money for to feed and dress them and pay charges and taxes on astonishing of that.

Coming from a small Catholic family, I can't speak for big families that you speak of...but just started going to a non denomitional Christian church with my friend who isn't Catholic, and it's a breath of fresh ar. I actually look forward to going to church now, and bring home at least one message from each mass that resonated with me. I'm still a Catholic, just found that denomination to be so strict straight edge that it's hard to follow. Just my two sense. God Bless.

They're not weird. It's just the way they believe in. That's like saying, "What's up with Republicans? They're so backward." Not true. America was pretty much founded by Republicans. Just like their families were raised in that old Catholic way. Deal with it.

As opposed to contemporary Catholics, who still believe that God manifested himself in human form by impregnating a virgin, then allowed himself to be brutally executed only to rise from the dead?
As much faith as I have in my beliefs, I readily admit that they are out there! (I'm actually Evangelical, not Catholic, but same argument applies)

You just went on a tangent about an esoteric group of people most people have never met, or indeed heard of, and you're discussing -their- weirdness?
