Aren't all true martial arts reality based? If it is an art that has been proven in combat then it is reality based.
I think the concept is old but the description is a recent "buzz-word" that is used to sell something to someone.

yeah, they have good and bad aspects, i agree, i think you are put under more pressure in a tournament situation than in a "real" stimulation that some reality based systems do but it does train your mind in the right environment so it definately doesnt hurt to do it

There are some that are good, but most of them are severely lacking, they were created during the krav maga boom, and most were only a compilation of half baked moves, just to sell the system.
