I dont think so. I think of it as more like a charity...kinda like donating clothes, but your donating your blood instead. Thats MY opinion though, what do you think?

Technically, you are a donor, without the wonderful people like you, who save lives through your donation, the American Red Cross could not survive. We love you! Many strangers benefit through your gift of life. You can contact your local chapter and volunteer, they train you! It is great for meeting wonderful people, helping your community and networking. If you chose, you can be trained in First Aid, CPR and AED (automatic external defibrillator) or you can join us with the disaster team, we would love to have you! And many thanks for your generous donation of blood, you are a HERO!!!,

A rose by any other name, my dear, still smells as sweet! Call it giving, whether its time, blood, money or food. Blood is one of the greatest gifts you can give. Volunteer your blood!

You voluntarily took the time, to go and give blood, it's "Volunteering", and you are giving away some of your "Life force", a pretty unselfish act if you ask me !

it's not mandatory, it's voluntary, I volunteer to give blood, I volunteer to help the teacher, I volunteer to answer this question, I volunteer to vote, to participate, to give, to help, to donate, to work, etc.

No it's more like "donating" you're giving it away to someone else that can use it..
