During the week I was astounded to hear george say that we need to stay the course in iraq and not leave early as the U.S. did with Vietnam.

Funny, but I was old enough to know what was going on during the Vietnam war and all my recollections, and those of others who were actually in Vietnam at the time confirm that the U.S. was kicked out of Vietnam. There was no 'early' withdrawal as Bush would have everyone believe after his little speech during the week.

Will this bloke stop at nothing in his attempt to justify the many deaths of not only U.S. soldiers but innocent bystanders?

Please don't go on about going after terrorists either. If he was truly fair dinkum about terrorists he would still be concentrating on Bin Laden and perhaps the CIA would have taken action before and shortly after 9/11 with what has been revealed about what they actually knew.

Actually, we did leave the South Vietnamese Army to fend off the North Vietnam's Army, and I can tell you they are not to be compared to the waring factions in Iraq, which is a sectarian civil war! We have chosen sides in a war that is not winnable. That is just a plain old fact, and I guarantee we will not win it!

When we left Vietnam everyone knew what was going to happen, just as we know is going to happen in Iraq either tomorrow, or next year, it really doesn't matter when as the solution will be the same!

What matters is how many are we going to set up to be killed, and how many of ours have to come home in a body bag!

He did mention "the killing fields" which happened in Cambodia and not Vietnam, and Nixon was president!

I don't know where you get your history but The United States of America was not kicked out of Vietnam. Congress tied the hands of the President and he had no choice except to withdraw troops from there, similar to what's being attempted now with the Iraq debacle. By the way I am THE ALL AMERICAN!!!!

The US learned in Viet Nam there wasn't going to be a victory there. Even though in theory it was democracy vs communism, it was a lot more more complicated than that.

The same thing is going on in Iraq. You can't get people to think like you want them to. It's as simple as that.

W has the greatest of intentions. Giving people a chance to decide their own destiny.

It didn't take Viet Nam long before they wanted trade relations with the US. Now they have them. 30 years ago they were our mortal enemies. Hmmmm.

Iraq and the Middle east are a very uneducated people. W has planted the seed and that's, as its turned out is all he can do. Let's see if the seed takes root.

You better study your history, we were not kicked out of Vietnam, funding was cut by congress and we had to leave. Where are you from Britain ? Canada ? Lucky you have the U.S.

I just read your profile and the questions you ask, sounds like you have a problem with America, why don't you try getting your information from somewhere besides far left wing websites.

The United States was not kicked out of Vietnam. Otherwise, I don't think President Bush is attempting to rewrite history and there is nothing in your disjointed attempt at promulgating a question to indicate otherwise.

I just studied the Vietnam War in graduate school. The professor must have neglected the fact the the Vietcong/NLF and the North Vietnamese Army drove the United States troops (and the Australian troops, too) into the ocean.

History repeats itself... goes the old saying.
GWB has been going on with his ranting about success in Iraq and the War on Terrorism. All that he and his cronies at the White House have been successful in making more enemies.
