The joke is funny because it works on two levels. It could be interpreted as the doctor is either saying he thinks the cause of the blonde's illness is because she is drinking, or that he can't find the cause because he is drunk. In turn, the blonde either doesn't realize she is the one with the drinking problem, or she is right that the doctor is drunk.

its really confusing! BUT the doctor said he does not know his patient illness but he thinks that its ilness is due to the fact that the patient drinks too much! the patient is blonde so he thought that the doctor cant give him a diagnosis because the doctor is drunk! so he told him that he will come back to give him a diagnosis when the doctor is better!
