i thought it was an instruction manual?! there are 10 warnings as to what you should do and not do and then a lot of lawyer fine print as to how GOD is not responsible if you don't obey the 10!

Dear photografr7again,
The Bible was not written to explain all things unknown. The Bible was written to tell man how to know God and how to live a life that is pleasing to God. Man can not know this just on his own intuition or feelings- because i think we can tell that people have a very relative scale of what's good and bad.
The Bible reveals to us what God wants us to know about Him and how to pursue a relationship with Him.
Man can not understand God without God revealing Himself to us- which is what He has chosen to do in the pages of the Bible.
Hope that helps. Kindly,
Nickster

The Holy Scriptures teaches, commands, explains, and reminds. If we look at it as an ordinary library or reference, say an encyclopedia, how can you say that it's usefulness diminish even after we read the whole thing? As humans we have limited lifespan and memory-span, and we would still use these books as references for us, and also to teach our children (they won't get copies of our memories with them).

The Old Testament was God’s promise that He would destroy death. The New Testament tells how He did it.
That is the thread of continuity that runs through the Bible—the consistent theme from the Old Testament through the New Testament.

Maybe sometime in the future when the scientific evidence cannot be denied and all educated people accept that the earth is actually much older than 6000 years.

It will go the way of other religious writings... Who takes the story of winter coming due to Hades kidnaping Persephone seriously anymore?
More bedtime stories anyone?

The New Testament was not written to "explain the unknown".......... So the rest of your argument is void.
