I faint when I see blood or when someone talks about it for too long & I freak out when they draw blood & then pass out. My dad had the same problem when he was alive. Is this normal I mean it started in middle school & I thought nothing of it & wondered why I was seeing spots before I passed out. A doctor told me once there was nothing I could do to get over it. Anyone else suffer with this or am I abnormal?

This is very normal my mother also is like you. I can't even mention the B word or else she gets very sick and faints. Its hard b/c I am in the medical field. Anyway u should be ok this is something normal. Try to avoid exposure to being around u know what and in case u feel like passing out always have a supply of water and sweets to put into ur mouth to avoid the chances of u passing out.

It's the one thing about donating blood that makes me feel queasy. It's not the needle - it's just the thought about the blood draining from my arm. I honestly do not think I could take it. I'm sorry if that makes me come across as weak and pathetic. Thank God there are people who can stand it. But I just know that I would pass out. I have known people to faint in the past. I don't want to add myself to this statistic!!

Not abnormal.
A girl [16] I know was pushed into a haunted house on Halloween, a very bad one, by the way, set up by the sophomore class, caught a glimpse of some fake thrift store blood on another girl who wasn't even wearing a mask, and completely knocked out, crying when she woke up again.

There's not much you can do about it. I have a very abnormal phobia for certain patterns of something I cringe at even typing out, and I throw up, cry, scratch my skin until I almost bleed, and throw tantrums when I think about it too much. It has to do with the way you perceive it, and it's usually very difficult to change your perspective on the subject once you've had it in your head to be so frightening.
The best you can do is to avoid it and try not to let it affect you as much as it does.

I don't myself but I know someone who does so you're not alone (my friends boyfriend, the first day I met him we were going to donate blood and bless him, he didn't say anything. One of the other donors had an "accident" and there was a fair bit of the red stuff - then my friends boyf just went out cold!)

I think it's that deep down you have some fear of blood, perhaps associate it with pain or death???? Give things time and just try to not be bothered - but I'm sure there are lots of people just like you!

Link below - funny picture (none of the red stuff in sight)

Hahaha no that is normal. My mom was like that too...then she had to kids that always somehow managed to get a cut here or there (climbing trees n stuff) lol. I even feel kinda queezy sometimes...but thats only when I see a blood clot...(my step bro had a bloody nose once....a blood clot came out...it was disgusting!).

ha..no. Blood doesnt scare me,try havin someone poking you in the arm cause they can't find a vein..to draw blood from..(don't faint!) I guess i got used to it. that doesnt sound abnormal to me... because i know a lot of people that say they can't stand to see blood. I don't know if they've ever fainted before though. =)

I could imagine it happening to me. I feel dizzy and hot and stuff when I see blood.

But what's weird with me is that I used to not be like that and prided myself in being able to stomach bloody sights. Then I turned into a little girl.

There, see, I'm feeling fuzzy just talking about it!

You are not abnormal!! That's very common. Next time you need a shot, just look away until the phlebotomist is all done. Interesting question. You get a star! :)
