Psalm 130
It also says to lay your problems at the feet of Jesus. I know sometimes it's hard, but you'll just have to let go. Jesus forgives you when you ask.

how can I understand that there is a difference between the act and the person as well as the influences controlling that person . if we learn not to accuse but deal with the entire process in all it's details maybe we will never have to forgive .
for instance bio chemical genetic and environmental factors which when corrected a reeducated individual can be as good and well adjusted in pursuing a productive life as any other already predisposed to appropriate actions .
when a computer crashes we usually bl aim viruses or software and correct the problem yet when human fail they are condemned as if it was their evil malice of intent apart from any other factors no wonder criminologists reject rehabilitation in the light of high recidivism .

Acts 3:19 Repent then , and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord, and that he may send the Christ, who has been appointed for you......
Repentence means to turn away from the things you did, if you do that, you are forgiven by God and nobody can hold that sin against you again. You have probably already done that, now all you need to do is to believe in your heart that you have been forgiven, and remind yourself of that every day until it becomes real to you. Don't let Satan rob you of your peace, don't trust the lie he is feeding you that you need to feel guilty about your mistake for the rest of your life. God says you will be forgiven, who will you believe?

Dear parabook2000,
i think the first thing to do is to realize who you did something wrong against. We all often kick ourselves for mistakes that we've made- but i think part of forgiveness is learning from our mistakes. So the first thing would be to try to make things right with whoever you wronged.
Depending on what this thing is to- if it's something that isn't pleasing in God's eyes- you should also make things right with God.
1 John 1:9 tells us: If we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
i think knowing that God forgives you should help you in forgiving yourself. Our greatest need sometimes is not to forgive ourselves- but to know that God forgives us and loves us even though we don't always feel like we should deserve His forgiveness.
Hope that helps. Kindly,
Nickster

God will forgive if you ask. You need to forgive yourself. Believe in forgiveness and also why not get some others to pray for you.. . . such as prayer lines etc www.ucb.co.uk has a prayer board as do many other sites. I personally find them quite encouraging
God Bless

Guilt is the devil's cousin, it's one of those negative feelings that can keep you from feeling peace. Jesus is the Prince of Peace. He died so you can be forgiven.
God doesn't want you to feel bad about yourself because that keeps you from freedom. Knowing you've done something wrong is the first step to self-forgiveness, the next step is to give it to Jesus and ask Him to forgive you (which He will), and then keep hold of it no longer.
We all make mistakes.

There are dozens of Scriptures regarding forgiveness but none directed at forgiveness of oneself. All of them regard either asking God for forgiveness and extending forgiveness to those who have offended you. Ultimately ALL of our sins are against God and not self or others.
So what you really need is forgiveness from God. And if HE forgives you, then why can you not forgive yourself????
Three things are necessary for forgiveness:
Recognition of sin
Confession of sin to God thru Jesus
Repentance of sin
Its that last point that really causes us problems!
If you have done or can do these things, then God will forgive you. And if He does, then the sin is gone - period.
Psa 103:12 As far as the east is from the west, [so] far hath he removed our transgressions from us.
Heads up! If GOD forgives you, then you are forgiven! You have done nothing new under the sun that He hasn't seen a million times. So lighten up on yourself!
1Jo 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us [our] sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

If you are a Christian think on this.
Jesus took away the sins of the world. This means that any sin you commit and are truly regretful, then through the blood of Christ, or the sacrifice that he gave, your sins have already been forgiven.
Do you think that Jesus was not good enough to fullfil that assignment?
Do you think that God made a mistake and should have chosen someone else for the job?
Romans 5 v 6 - 11
6Â For, indeed, Christ, while we were yet weak, died for ungodly men at the appointed time. 7Â For hardly will anyone die for a righteous [man]; indeed, for the good [man], perhaps, someone even dares to die. 8Â But God recommends his own love to us in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. 9Â Much more, therefore, since we have been declared righteous now by his blood, shall we be saved through him from wrath. 10Â For if, when we were enemies, we became reconciled to God through the death of his Son, much more, now that we have become reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. 11Â And not only that, but we are also exulting in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.

I don't know if you are a Catholic but if you are you should go to confession. You will feel much better afterwards.
Acts 2:38
Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Penance is not only receiving God's forgiveness, it is also an instrument of reconciliation with our brothers and sisters. The goal of this sacrament is conversion and change in our lives. In this respect, the sacrament of penance is one of the most powerful -- potentially the most powerful – instruments in the Church for spiritual growth and continuing conversion in our lives. God loves us always and will always forgive us but we must respond to the message Jesus gave us: "The kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe the good news!" (Mark 1:15, NIV) A significant part of that message of good news is the commandment to love one another, to be reconciled with our brother (Matthew 5:23-24).

First.. Did you fix whatever you did wrong and say that your are sorry to whomever was offended? Your forgiveness of self will begin after you do these things.. And talk to your mother about it.. Pick up the phone. I find that that helps a lot.

First of all does anyone else know what you did?
If the answer is no then you should talk to someone and that may help you let go of what ever it is.
It also depends what you did wrong because people can't really help you if they don't know what you did.
For example if you killed someone turn your self in, if you robbed someone return the items.
