I have fairly distinct darker skin discoloration patches around my neck, shoulders, and arms, obviously due to long-term sun exposure (see http://www.flickr.com/photos/9033914@N03/1229223280/ ) I did have mild acne is these areas for a long time, so this may contribute to the spreckled, splotchy nature of the dark/light contrast. I'm 39 and have been an avid endurance athlete in my life, but I've been conscious over my life to minimize sun exposure. I've always had a mild red complexion, but I noticed these areas only in the last few years, so I attribute it to a cumulative effect. I've had some people close to me comment on the discoloration, so I'm interested in finding about how to reduce or remove the brown patches, esp. on my neck, since these are what people notice. I don't want to do anything risky or costly, and would like to hear about effective home remedies. I'm looking for permanent solutions obviously, and appreciate any thoughtful advice.

A product called Even Complexion Essence, go to marykay.com and you can request free samples.

This stuff really works. It is about $30. a bottle but the bottle will last close to 6 months.
