OK, I want my 6-pack back. One would think I know how to do it, but I don't. I was a swimmer, on the team, and there is no way I'm going to swim as much - I have a day job.
I need something serious. Knee-up are OK, but doing like 50 of them still doesn't do much. Pilates are fun, but maybe i don't have the right routine, cause the one I have is too easy.

You need to put your daily diet in check. Abs are seen when your bodyfat is at a low enough level (10% or less in men).
Cut out all:
sugar
white flour
fried foods
Also stay away from heavily processed foods. If you only eat foods that have a single line or two of ingredients, you're probably eating healthy.
Healthy food:
Lean meat (chicken and turkey breast, salmon and tuna)
Green Veggie
Low-fat cottage and string cheeze
Almonds
long grain brown rice
sweet potatoes and yams
plain oatmeal
Limited amounts of organic / whole wheat:
bread / buns / wraps / tortillas
Drink at least 1 gallon of water a day, more if you're active.
Take a daily Centrum.
Eat 250 calories every 2.5-3 hours. Aim for protein to take up the bulk of your calories (20-30 grams per meal/snack).
Have veggies with every meal/snack.
Don't eat carbs after you're home for the night.
Thats about how fitness models eat.
As for exercises, you need to add resistance just like you do in weight training as your abs are a sheet of muscle.
Get a 25# weight plate and place it on your chest when doing crunches. You want to hit failure in about 15 reps.
Do this routine every other day if you're not sore.
3 x 15 (or failure) - normal weighted crunch
3........................... - reverse crunch or lower leg holds
3........................... - bicycle crunches

Hi,
I've tried so many different diets in the last 10 years that I can say now, they don't work!
A few months ago, I came across a great product for weight loss and like many others I was skeptical about it. But I really wanted to lose weight and I tried it. The results were excellent and I lost 20 pounds in 2 months. I felt fantastic and I dropped another 5 pounds safely. That's why I recommend you check this product at
http://www.get-slender.info where they have a free trial and you only pay 5.49$ shipping and handling.
Good luck!

I will be 66 in Oct, and I find consistancy in whatever excercise you do is the key. I am one who has never had what you would call a "flat" stomach, but to keep the lower abs in tack I do 100 crunches with my feet up on a chair or stool, and 100 on each side of knee to opposite elbow, while flat on my back, but when I really feel the burn is when using a large excercise ball. I lay across it with the lower part of my back resting on the ball, and do crunches, hands behind your head with your feet flat on the floor, and making sure you rest your head in your hands. Look at a spot on the ceiling, and just raise your shoulders and head while looking at the ceiling, supporting your neck and head with your hands................... To work the obliques, again lay across the ball, lower back resting on the ball, feet flat on floor, hands behind your head and neck, then reach across with left elbow to right side , then do the opposite with right elbow to left side. Do a few of sets of those and you will really feel the burn.
Switch off different excercises so that your body doesn't get used to the same one every time. Good Luck!!!

Well, since there really is no such thing as "lower abs" as a separate set of muscles, any ab exercise works. What you probably need to do is lose the fat over your abdomen. Even if you have a fantastic "six pack" and inch of fat over it will keep it from showing.
