If Global Warming Skeptics started to go missing or ended up dead would you consider this a natural progression of the global warming movement?

This movement is after all fueled by a powerfull lobby, would it suprise you if those who opposed this lobby ended up dead or missing? It's only a natural extention of stalinism.

You're thoughts betray you... I know you want those global warming deniers dead!

Nawww... it'll probably be something very public - an updated version of the Spanish Inquisition. They need to set examples to keep the masses in line.

They just have to come up with an alternative to burning at the stake resulting in little or no carbon emissions..."we commit his body to the ground, earth to earth, carbon to carbon."

I really don't get you.

No, I don't think missing/dead skeptics have anything to do with global warming.
Global warming is currently being caused by unnaturally-introduced excess greenhouse gases. Which means it's fueled by PEOPLE. People end up dead and missing everyday because of sickness, war, disease, crime, etc. - so no, it wouldn't surprise me - those who oppose, and those who agree on the global warming opinion are mortal people.

You're just being a smart alec, right?

On the other hand, maybe you mean people killing each other over a can of beans in the future - could happen, you know, if something's not done to curb the global warming. In that case, I would consider the mass deaths of skeptics and believers alike as the product of unnatural and unabated global warming. And those who survive can tell the history of skeptics that didn't care to help fix the problem sooner.

If you live in a stalinistic country, well, I guess there could be a problem, since historically that type of government "does away" with it's non-followers. If you don't live in such a country, and you believe that some stalinistic movement is after you, I would suggest to report it to the proper authorities, or your therapist.

Geez, I thought I was bad!

P.S. Thanks - uh, don't come knocking on my door 15 years from now demanding my canned goods - that definitely could cause you a problem....skeptic or believer, armed or not!

"Fueled by a powerful lobby"? Like who?

I can see that the skeptics are fueled by a powerful lobby: the oil and coal industries, which stand to lose billions if we do the sensible thing and find energy sources other than fossil fuels. And it's a documented fact that many, perhaps most, of the leading GW skeptics have taken money from outfits like ExxonMobil and the Western Fuels Association.

OK, so the powerful lobby funding the skeptical side is easy to see and easy to understand: billions in profits taken from the money you pay at your gas pump, some of which is piped directly into the pockets of the skeptics.

But where's the "powerful lobby" on the other side? Who are they, and where do they make their alleged millions?

"what about the skeptics....global warming deniers"

a skeptic isn't the same thing as a denier. a denier doesn't believe no matter how much evidence is put forth. a skeptic is (usually) someone who doesn't believe the evidence is conclusive.

The can have Inhofe. I'm tired of him giving my home state a bad rep. I don't even tell people in the real world that I'm from Oklahoma anymore. It's only one side of the state that likes him anyway; he lost badly in the governor race (to a democrat too).

It may be that the denialists will want to get rid of the skeptics who keep calling them up on why their arguments that we're not causing global warming are wrong.

One wonders what sort of thought process you used to arrive at this conclusion. And if you aren't simply projecting your own desires onto other people.

You might want to seek professional help, buddy.

"This movement is after all fueled by a powerfull lobby."

Is it any more powerful than the Oil lobby and the coal lobby?

I promise I won't land in your backyard in a black hawk helicopter to take you away though. At least that's one person in the movement that you don't have to worry about. :)

comrade,

why do you speak of our brothers in this fashion?

you evidently need to be sent to a re-education camp so you can be enlightened on GW.

if you can not understand these concepts, you will leave no choice for us but to volunteer you for the peace corp.

where you will plant trees for the rest of your life.

you must conform to the solialist movement.
