I personally am a sucker for the whole "cute" act, even if it is just an act.
It's hard to explain how do do this successfully, but for starters, tilt your head to the side a bit when you're talking to him and smile a lot.

well, personally, as a guy, before i asked my gf out, i flirted with her a lot, jokes and everything else... i like to flirt with girls and i would think most others do too.
