I was recently diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder. It's awful. Everyday feels like I have to go make a speech in front of the whole world...
Anyways, school started which has made it progressively worse. Even if my MIND isn't anxious, my body still is. Normal?
I'm always worrying if I have high blood pressure--normal side effect with anxiety. I just want it all to go away..I used to be so happy and carefree, and now all I do is worry. Any suggestions? I am seeing a therapist but it hasn't helped much..should I get medication to calm myself down?

I completely understand how you feel. The body symptoms of anxiety can be quite unpleasant. I have found a webpage that has helped me alot regarding physical and emotional symptoms. It is anxietycentre.com. Please check it out. It has really answered a lot of questions for me. Good luck and God bless!!

I am taking medicine for anxiety. It helps sooo much. For example when severe weather would come I would literally get sick. It was horrible! I have been on medicine and I know what it is like to be NORMAL again! When you have an anxiety attack you really have to talk yourself out of it [when you dont have medicine]. Tell yourself, I know this is anxiety, I am fine, it will pass...etc. You are fine, it isn't anything that no one else has had before. You will find a way through. But my suggestion is to get on medicine. It's not scary and it doesn't make you weird...it makes life easier. Good luck :)

Usually the combination of a Therapist and Medication are the best approach right now in your case. But do relax and take it easy. Try not to stress yourself on little things. School is not the factor that made it worse, but the anticipation of failure. This could happen anywhere when there's pressure. Think positive and welcome the challenge.

First of all, why are you feeling this way? If you used to be happy and carefree, what changed? Feeling this way is a form of pain; pain is a sign that something is wrong. Find the root of it and you can change it. Second, if you're seeing a therapist and it's not helping, get a different one. I recommend hypnotherapy -- it worked for me. Good luck!

Hi there, I just laugh about my past 3 years of panic now. I was not able to go anywhere without carrying xanax. Fear of having another attack was the most important subject of my days.When i first found joe barry's web site i started to cry because of my happiness.

You most likely have Irratable Bowwl Syndrome. That's something I have and before I started taking a little pink pill, I felt the same exact way every single morning!
You should see a Stomach Doctor and have him prescribe the medication for you.
The pill is so tiny, it shouldn't be a problem taking it.
Good luck!=]

Try an antidpressant like Zoloft. It worked wonders for me, and there is usually some issues you have to deal with too. There is probably somehting bothering you that you are suppressing, it doesn't have to be major to cause anxiety. You will get better, trust me yoiu'll be OK, I know it sucks, but get help.

Do you drink coffee? If so, kick the caffeine and that will help you. Starbucks is anxiety in a cup.
