For example, most of the American Black families have been in America longer than the White families, and yeah my family came over on the Mayflower also. It was after all the largest ship that sailed the seas because according to the rumors and family historys over a million passagers must have sailed on the Mayflower. But, have you every seen the Mayflower?
The American CIA planned and sponsored the overthrow of the Iranian President who was elected to Office during the 1950's. America armmed Iraq in its war with Iran which resulted in over a million deaths by American made poison gas. It was the American conservatives that got the simple minded Bush to attack Iraq, and now the Conservatives are fighting tooth and nail to keep us in Iraq so the Country can blame the Democrats for the loss in the Iraq War. Thats right, the Irag War is already lost. Bush has been hiding behind the idea that he listens to the Generals. Yeah, he listens ok, if they agree with him. Bush does not listen..

Show me a government that has NOT done shady dealings and ruthless activities of some sort or another. Now, does that excuse our current un-Constitutional war? No. But American history is not a whole lot different than history in other countries. All have had their crooked politicians, their dictators at some level or another, etc.

In the grand scheme of things, I'd say we're still a lot better than Germany's Third Reich, or today's Communist China, or any of a LONG list of European kings throughout history who beheaded, garrotted, disemboweled, and generally slaughtered each other fighting over land. (Watch "Henry V" -- it may be Shakespeare, but it's still a good illustration of the amount of blood rulers were willing to shed simply to claim a few more square miles' territory under their throne.)

And how exactly do we "deal" with history? I don't deny that blacks were horribly mistreated by the white slave trade (but let's be fair now -- many blacks ended up on ships headed for America because their enemy tribes [i.e., other blacks] in Africa captured them and sold them). I don't deny that the government was consistently two-faced when making treaties with the American Indians. But there's nothing I can do to change any of the injustices that were perpetrated in or by this country in the past. The most I can do is do my part to prevent injustices from happening NOW.

So I'm not sure what your gripe is. The question is somewhat incoherent in its ranting. But "dealing" with American history is really a vague notion that you may want to explain...

For starters, history records that there were no blacks on the Mayflower. When you post your source for that information, I'll take the time to answer the rest of your question.

How the heck did you manage to connect the Mayflower with Iraq? That's truly amazing. Never seen that one before.

Will people like you ever take a break from your "poor me" syndrome and focus on the American PRESENT? History is great and all, but we have to combine our energy to fix some very unnerving problems in our nation TODAY. We can debate who was, or wasn't, on the Mayflower another time.

Was it the Conservatives who got Clinton to attack Iraq also?

Did you know that American Foreign Policy is about doing what is right for the US and spreading democracy? That's about it.

I have a feeling you didn't know that. Along with most people in this forum. So, don't feel bad.

Maybe it's just me, but I am lost here. What about the Vikings coming to North America and Afghanistan?
