i really do not understand your question ! i work in the restaurant business, and as far as i've noticed, people of all colors & races like to sip cognac.

They're just being dumb. The label doesn't say that Cognac is intended for only blacks. Lots of people sip cognac. The Asian community is one of the ones to favor cognac. So do the French and many others. It all depends on one's taste. Everyone has different tastes for alcohol, just like food. Just ignore them.

You have actually asked two questions, but it is interesting that most replies are looking on your first part as a negative opinion, and while it is never clever to stereotype would it still be viewed as negative if you had been told you acted like a star - I bet people would say "Why are you complaining?, it is meant as a compliment!"
As to it being racist, you can read anything into statements made by people, without the context it is hard to say. I have to point out though, that the answer given by Bolavo would worry me a lot more because there is definately a double entendre there, whether the intention is cynical or just bad grammar it could easily be taken the wrong way so, just like your initial question, depending on the point of view it could easily be misunderstood.

well cognac should be sipped so dont worry about them and just cause rappers made it once again popular for the drinkers they were only just reminding the people of a good quality drink america had already made
pay them no mind ..if ya feel like it offer them a drink (if legal)

They would be, but no you wouldn't be acting black.
Blacks aren't the only people who drink cognac. The French
and some Russians drink it, too (although the Russians generealy prefer vodka. ).

It has nothing to do with how you act. But, rather, how they interpret your actions.
Everyone has their own opinions and narrow minded views of how certain races act. If they are grouping you in with one certain race, that is their own fault.
You can be who you are. Don't let anyone's comments scare you away from who/what you are happy being.
