Try this when your in the shower bring either a wide tooth comb or a regular one if your comfortable and comb your roots. I used to get serious matting and I realized it was mostly due to not combing my roots also brushing doesnt help it makes the hair puffy and frizzed out. After combing in the shower bit, you might want to invest in weekly deep conditioners to keep hair supple and manageable. Good luck.

comb your hair out on a daily basis, it's one thing you have to do. i'm not being mean, you just gotta. wash your hair every other day. if you go too long, it will matt and stink. make sure you get ALL hair products washed out that you use in the shower. plus the extra gel or whatever from the day before or when you last used it.

Perhaps when you are brushing you don't get all the hair. Try brushing it from underneath as well as on top. You might also decide to switch to washing and conditioning your hair every day or every other day, and/or using a spray-in conditioner.

use a wider-toothed brush or comb, fine-tooth ones will sometimes miss matts or even make them worse. Brush at least twice a day, especially before bed, and try to braid or otherwise restrain your hair before bed so it doesn't matt in your sleep.

conditioner is the key, if not a leave in one, try regular conditioning every day.
oh, and brush your hair out.

This is probably occuring whilr you are sleeping, before you go to sleep, put your hair in a braid,(or two, on the sides), and you will wake up to tangle free hair.

Every third day?... And EVEN brush?...
How about washing it every day and brushing several times a day?
Oh, and the problem with your teeth might be also because you brush them every third day.

Wash your hair everyday and then you probably won't get matts.

you should definitely be washing every day, unless you have an extremely dry scalp.

i have an average scalp, and i can't skip a day, or my hair will be nasty. please, for the sake of yourself and everyone around you, WASH YOUR HAIR! lol
