I can't imagine why in the world it would take 6 weeks to turn in a claim on something as important as a roof! If you're gonna turn it in, you better do it quick because policies have a time structure on them as to how long you can turn claims in. There's ALSO a factor of "duty" on the customer's part to protect from "additional damage" that could result from other elements. Run Forrest, Run!!! and get that claim turned in!!!

What caused the damage, and what percentage of the roof is actually damaged? Need more info in order to say how this affects, never mind if the claim is actually covered.
Many companies have a phone number you can call to report a claim directly. If they don't, or if you don't know what the number is (did you check the phone book and online?), call the person who you purchased the policy from.

Call the claims reporting number for your insurance company. Usually there is an 800 number on your insurance card or call your agents.

The damage occurred 6 weeks ago. you haven't notified them yet???
Notify them at once.
Failure to give timely, adequate notice can puit you in a very awkward position.

You will never know unless you contact your insurance company, will you? Call them in the morning or be ready to fix it yourself.
