Kirk is an actor, but he's a better thinker than at least 90% of the shallow pretenders in Hollywood.

True, we've been around a million years or two, and we've learned a few things. Most species improve some within the species, but we didn't develop from worms or fish.

Some plausibility here. There is no real evidence that any species has changed into another species. We've been zapping millions of fruitflies for decades (lifespan about a month), and no new reproducing species.

No evidence for this one. We've had SETI radiotelescopes scanning space for decades. Not a peep.
