The Earth...its size is perfect. The Earth's size and corresponding gravity holds a thin layer of mostly nitrogen and oxygen gases, only extending about 50 miles above the Earth's surface. If Earth were smaller, an atmosphere would be impossible, like the planet Mercury. If Earth were larger, its atmosphere would contain free hydrogen, like Jupiter.3 Earth is the only known planet equipped with an atmosphere of the right mixture of gases to sustain plant, animal and human life.

The Earth is located the right distance from the sun. Consider the temperature swings we encounter, roughly -30 degrees to +120 degrees. If the Earth were any further away from the sun, we would all freeze. Any closer and we would burn up. Even a fractional variance in the Earth's position to the sun would make life on Earth impossible. The Earth remains this perfect distance from the sun while it rotates around the sun at a speed of nearly 67,000 mph. So either god does exist or scientoligist is right. Alien

You do in fact realize that the earth's atmosphere *does* contain free hydrogen, right? Thus negating your entire point.

Try again.

Edit: One more thing before I go: You know that there is pretty much an infinite number of stars, right? And that each one could, potentially have planets? And that each one of those planets could be at the exact same distance as earth from it's star? We aren't as special as you assume we are. You do also realize that plants altered the content of the atmosphere, and that oxygen is an extremely poisonous and reactive gas, right? Of course it's "perfect," it's what we are adapted for. You're conclusions are hopelessly flawed, and your evidence, if it can be called that, is sketchy, at best.

Rockstar: "If Earth were larger, its atmosphere would contain free hydrogen." I read it. And yes, I know what the atmosphere does. Did you know that earth isn't the only planet with an atmosphere? In fact, all planets have some sembalance of an atmosphere. It's just a gravitational hold on gases. But hey, shoot me an email if you want to continue this. This takes next to no effort on my part.

Oh, and your insulting me by calling me genius in a sarcastic manner would be a lot more effective if you could actually spell genius.

you're correct that earth is the only known planet etc etc.

but what is known is a tiny fraction of what is probably out there. there are estimated to be at least 100 billion planets in the milky way galaxy alone. there is a good probability that an environment like earth could form naturally. a god is not required to explain it.

also i think you overstate your case a little. the habitable zone is probably several million kilometers wide. earth's orbit is actually eccentric - if your argument was correct, we would freeze at aphelion and burn at perihelion, but in fact we barely notice. the seasons are mainly caused by axial tilt.

edit: there are about one billion stars like the sun in the milky way, many of them probably have planets but it's very difficult to find planets. the milky way is about 100,000 light years in diameter. so far, astronomers have only been able to find some 250 larger planets within about 300 light years. earth mass planets are not detectable with current technology. that doesn't mean they're not there!

Just like a Christian, you offer only 2 possibilities, the least crazy of which happens to be god. The thing that you fail to take into account is probability. Christians love to say that it is impossible for a planet to be so perfect as to support life, with out divine intervention. It is not in fact impossible, only improbable. Then when you take into account the vast # of planets that can't support life, the likelihood of one, or more that could support life dose not seem that unlikely

As many of your ilk are prone to do, you start your problem with a list of pre-suppositions .
You pre -suppose that all life in all places has certain conditions that need to be met in order for it to flourish. You don't know that though .
In all likely-hood life on this planet evolved in order to meet the conditions that were present on this planet and life on other planets will evolve to meet conditions on those planets.
Oxygen is not a requirement for life on this planet nor is the maximum temperature of 120F
There is life on earth that lives in deep sea thermal vents and breathes hydrogen sulfide mixtures.
Gangrene for instance is a form of life on earth that is anaerobic and in fact the presence of oxygen is fatal to.
You just can't pre -suppose that life had an environmental requirement and your god created a planet to meet those requirements.
Edit
I find it amazing that somebody who writes like a ten year old with a laundry list of learning disabilities that are most often identified simply by three letters ,would dare to question anybody's educational background..
If you honestly believe that life on this planet requires oxygen in order to exist ,I know of a great way for you to test that idea
Go to your local market and buy a pint of any salad oil.
Take two cloves of garlic , peel them ,and put them in the oil.
Store the oil in a warm place for a month and then use it dress a salad with.
Enjoy the salad but DO NOT share it with anybody.
When you're in your hospital / death bed trying desperatley to survive a case of botulism-which just happens to thrive in no oxygen environments - you can get on your laptop and send me a note explaining how positive you are that all life on Earth needs oxygen in order to survive.
Bon Appetit

Your agruement is flawed. It assumes the Earth was created for us. Maybe we came to be because of conditions on Earth, which would also explain how it it so perfected suited for us. I am a Christian and I don't accept this as valid evidence of GOD's existence. Just believe or don't. It's called faith because it can't be proven.

Ok here it is pretty clear for you. The universe has infinite space. That means there were infinite chances for earth to happen. It's all probability. You only think it's special because your here. If it wasn't here it would be on the other side of the galaxy.

EDIT: Only one sun??? The sun is just a star. There are infinite stars in the infite universe.

That is an embarrassingly weak argument for your beliefs, and only impresses the very ignorant and ill informed, like you for instance..

what you people do know is nothing.... We are born spiritual, emotional, mental and physical... What is spiritual it's the connection we have with Nature... its a conscience... a knowing... it is devastated when pushed through a religion, warped beyond recognition.. you give up what life is suposed to be when you are part of a relgion... honestly
