Is it me or do cameras bring the bad parts out of people?

Today I was messing with my camera (witch is a really good one cuz' it's a new sony handy cam) and I started looking at myself with it. Right now it's NOT on record and I look fine, but when I hit record all the bad things about me came out, things that you dont see in real life. My nose is kind of curved but not noticeable in real life. I'm not an ugly person, alot of people think I look pretty good, but on camera I just hate the way I look. My nose is all curved, even my mouth looks kind of curved. I never see that in real life. This is anoying becuase I want to do things that include being on camera like putting vids on youtube. And the weird thing is when i'm not recording I look fine but when I look at myself with the camera, but when the record buttons touched I look awfull. How anoying. And this isn't just for video cameras, its for regular ones too.

Why is it that cameras do that and how can I make myself look normal?

They don't, but the subject can. It has long been the true adage that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The reverse is also true. The camera can be used to give a distorted image due to such things as parallax and camera angle for example, but it can't reshape a crooked nose. Only a good darkroom techie or a talented computer operator can do that after the fact. As a semi-retired x-pro now hobbyist photographer, I marvel at the many weddings that I have shot, watching out of the corner of my eye as the family members stand over top of me with their little view cameras and take snap shots in the landscape mode, while I create photographic art... At proper camera angle and with my camera held in the portrait mode. Go figure.

cameras have better vision the 20/20 so they see things naked eye can not see. It could also be the resolution at which your camera is set to when recording.
