. . .question mainly for those that reside in Atlanta.

Only thing that sucks about Atlanta is the traffic.

For those of us who were born here the heat is okay (it beats the cold ANY day) - I don't even turn the air conditioner on in my car if I don't have a passenger. I consider it a "personal sauna". :P

If you're a transplant - the pollen may be a definite negative - we're the pollen capital of the world.

Good things: Warm, wonderful people - beautiful architecture, trees-trees and more trees, rolling hills, parks, flowers, restaurants, shopping - it's downright gorgeous. The night life is always hoppin and the streets don't roll up at six o'clock.

I have lived in Atlanta for a few months. The traffic is horrible, people do not know how to drive here. The public transportation is extremely limited. The weather is oppressively hot in the summer. The housing market is starting to turn around (good time to buy, terrible time to sell). There are too many chain stores and strip malls.

As far as what's good, the people are friendly, and there seems to be a lot to do around here. A lot of bars and events. There's a big music scene. Compared to the northeast, the cost of living is more reasonable. There are a lot of young people (20s and 30s) moving to Atlanta, so it's not hard to find other people who are 'new' to the city. I haven't been here for a winter yet, but I hear that it's mild and snow is very rare.

On the pro side, Atlanta always has something to do, whether it be sporting events, concerts, theatre, great restaurants, etc.

On the con side, traffic is horrible & not getting any better, it can get really hot & humid, the pollen is horrible in the spring which turns everything a lovely shade of green & the smog is horrible here.

GOOD
Lots of trees
Becoming more cosmopolitan all the time
Great malls
Great falls and winters
Decent restaurants

BAD
Hot humid summers
Horrendous traffic
Bland suburbs (especially on the northside)
Lack of a unified "downtown" area
Little charm or beauty (in my opinion)

I haven't been here long enough to see all the sights, but in the short time that I have lived here, what I hate and love about Cobb County so far is:

I Hate:

The old, worn-down buildings - not enough new construction
Too many ghetto people
Job market is terrible, in my opinion
There are some decent, handsome black men, but not enough when compared to the high percentage of blacks

I Love:

Many big, beautiful trees and green spaces
Rainy days that aren't cold - it feels "tropical"
Lots of churches to choose from
The smallness of certain areas. Two-lane roads in suburbs.
Theaters that aren't too crowded
Harry's Farmers Market in Marietta
