Little Bear, some of your wording is a little difficult for me to follow, maybe it's just me, as a lot of others are responding just fine. This in particular -"The Protestant tells me if I don't see Jesus as Jehovah Witness, I am going to hell. The Jehovah Witnesses says we all go to hell but hell is not an firey place, rather it is simply a grave and you feel no pain or pleasure."
A couple of things though. First and foremost, if you feel I can be of further assistance, please e-mail me anytime, bj_1985@yahoo.com . Anyhow, you shouldn't believe anything simply because someone tells you to. Listen to what they're saying, maybe even take in more perspectives, and truly listen to what they have to say. Ask any questions you may have, particularly WHY they believe what do. Then do your own research. Doing this you will most likely begin to lean toward one or the other, or start eliminating certain religions so to speak.
It is confusing, I myself find it overwhelming and am constantly looking for the truth. Everyone thinks they have it, obviously if there are many different beliefs, than there are many people wrong. Be wise and diligent and take it slow. Nobody will be able to bring you peace immediately.
Religions and/or fellow believers can complicate things, but they can also be of great help. Cutting off all ties could be detrimental, but its a decision you have to make. Maybe just limit it to when you want it, and only for the purpose you want it for (as an example, you ask a question, they give a relevant answer, nothing more).
I personally believe what the Witnesses believe as far as heaven and hell. I believe a lot of their doctrines, but for numerous reasons, not necessarily theirs or with them, I do not really actively associate with them or any religion. Though I constantly talk with Christians of all denominations, as well as people of other religions.
It is difficult, but I feel it is necessary and undoubtedly one of the highest, if not the highest priority, to find the truth and live by it. I hope the best for you.

No matter how the Bible is analyzed, it is flawed. Strictly discussing only the New Testament, translators had complete discretion over content. If a story wasn’t complete, multiple stories were woven together to form one book. Pieces were moved around and put together like a puzzle. When a turn of a phrase seemed to even slightly disagree with the Church, it was removed in its entirety.
We now know that multiple scrolls of material, intended to be included as part of the Bible, were carefully hidden instead. This was necessary to avoid destruction of both the authors, and the information they were attempting to disclose.
Scripted Codices, have slowly been discovered. They’ve been carbon dated and authenticated by experts to prove they were written at the same time the Bible was written. Numerous experts believe these writings were intended to be part of the original Bible. However, it is also true to say that these compositions are still the cause of great debate.
The New Testament was written two centuries after The Christ was crucified. Before the Bible was let loose to commoners, these powerful people had just simply raped it.
When one controls the religion of a people, they then control those people. This is why it was so important to make sure the Bible only told the stories approved of by the King and his Church. It also explains the hiding of certain texts. If anything written even smacks of freedom for the common man, it must be destroyed. For if it was found that the King was not god, the King could loose his ability to control his kingdom. As the translators were loyal to the King, the Bible was edited very carefully indeed.
Speaking only of the New Testament, the Bible remains one of the very few best set of life instructions known to man. There is only one, most important law. It is: To love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your mind and with all your soul, and to love thy neighbor as you love yourself. If this Law is followed to the letter, it isn’t possible to break even one of the old Ten Commandments.
Blessed Be

The bible cannot give u peace but I can say it's words in psalms have been helpful. I believe you can only find peace by going within yourself. I don't know why you're searching for peace but all you need is inside you.
I was raised as a muslim including having an arabic name (I'm African-American), as an adult converted to Christianity & reborn thru a belief in Jesus. I had to give up Christianity because religion to keep a long story short is not from the creator, it's man made and I believe it's the reason why it's so complicated and chaotic. I never had peace or happiness whenever I followed a particular religion. I decided to maintain my faith in Jesus Christ and be spiritual instead, because I am a spirit and soul (having a human experience) & God is spirit and has to be worshiped as spirit as it's stated in the New Test. of the Bible, and religion didn't allow me to do that. I don't blindly believe or accept every aspect of the Bible because it is written by man but I do believe Divine Inspiration is weaved in throughout the bible and that's what I relate to.
You didn't say what religious affiliation you had if any but my only advice to you is to look within yourself, god is there and god is the best one to help you to give rise to peace within yourself.
God Bless You.

Look - first you must understand there is ONLY ONE TRUTH - ONE PATH TO FOLLOW - all others are deceivers and don't even know the scriptures they proclaim.
The Jehova Witnesses don't even know whom they witness for - as in the preface of their own diaglot - they say very blatantly that the TRUE NAME OF OUR CREATOR IS YAHWEH (YHWH) - but; they chose to use Jehaova instead because of POPULAR DEMAND ...
The Letter "J" was not even invented until a couple hundred years ago ... look it up for yourself in any encyclopedia under the section containing the letter "J" words ... it will tell you first thing - on the first page of any encyclopedia that the letter "J" was invented in the 17th Century of this common Era ... so - therefore even calling the Messiah who was born and NAMED almost 2,000 years ago - by a name of HEY ZEUS ... or "Jesus" ... is another lie.
Look at what the messiah said in Matthew 5:17-21 and you will see that all the churches and even the Jehova witnesses are on the wrong track - and they don't know how to get on any righteous path at all ... another test is in Isaiah 8:20, it says TO THE LAW AND THE PROPHETS - IF THEY SPEAK NOT ACCORDING TO THIS WORD ... THERE IS NO LIGHT IN THEM.
So - if they do not keep and preach the laws and the prophets ... THERE IS NO LIGHT (LAW) IN THEM ... plain and simple, that is why you feel distressed.
Tell you what - check out www.yahweh.com and get the free booklets, contact them - they won't obligate you to anything ... there are tons of sermons you can download FOR FREE ...
Tear it up - prove it wrong if you can ... and maybe you will rejoice that your prayers have been answered, as I have been guided to your question to let you know there is hope if you will accept it.
Hope this helped some ... remember - though there may be hundreds of different churches ... let us just say 3 ... there are three preachers - each preaching a DIFFERENT DOCTORINE ... a DIFFERENT MESSAGE ...
Well - it is easy to see that if there are three preachers - supposedly and alleged holy men - learned men ... and each of them has a different message - well,
it is very apparent that all three CANNOT BE RIGHT, now can they? They all preach a different path and our Messiah, Yahshua Messiah said there was ONLY ONE PATH AND IT WAS NARROW ... did he not? So then - they are each preaching a different path - so ... NOT ALL THREE CAN BE RIGHT - ...
then again ... ALL THREE COULD BE WRONG, could they not?
Our Creator said IN THE LAST DAYS HE WOULD ESTABLISH HIS HOUSE AGAIN - IN THE CHEIF OF THE NATIONS ... and eventually all Nations would flow to it ...
I offer you that house now - up to you to believe what you see and hear - up to you to obey what the scriptures say ...we are only the ones that can help you walk the path as it is narrow.
If you don't understand it - don't worry - one can only come to the knowledge of the truth (Yahchanan (John) chapter 17 and verse 17), as the Law is Truth ... simple as that ... the Law of Yahweh is Truth ... nothing else is truth and anything against it is simply a lie or a sin.
Read Isaiah 24:1-6 for a real eye opener ... and Deuteronomy chapter 28 ... the whole chapter will tell you the curses (diseases, wars and/or etc.) and the blessings ... but; most importantly - it will show you things going on RIGHT NOW ... that could only come in the LAST DAYS - the very days you are now living in.
Hope this helped some.
Peace;

yep I get what you're saying every religion is different and has different answers to the same what seems like simple question. Happiness is found in Christ no religion will bring it only God will. religion is more of the group of fellow people who believe the same thing, not your relationship with God. This is more of something you have to find out for your own to believe almost everyone will give you a different answer and it will only confuse you if you're into languages and translating things I recommend getting the new testament Greek that is what the original new testament was written in and is completely unchanged or if your not King James version is a little difficult to understand because of the old english but it is translated straight from the Greek and Hebrew and was the first Bible printed in English so nothing is changed. hope this helps

Loads of confusion. The one thing we all Christians that is have in common is the love of Jesus and forgiveness for our sins. You have to believe, not falling all over yourself believe but with an open and contrite heart go to the cross and accept forgiveness from God through the Savior Jesus as a work of the Holy Spirit. That's the ticket puncher. All the rest is gravy and it takes time to sort it all out.
Get saved and then start a bible study. I know a good place. gracethrufaith.com
God Bless

Religion always made me feel like crap too. Individual hearts and individual experiences are a blessing. I think religion is the killer of the spirit because it loses the spirit when it becomes lost in the 'letter of the law'.
There is only one path. That much is true. But the path isn't what somebody or anybody else says it is.
The only true path to your peace, is the path you create and open up to inside your own heart and mind and spirit. It's an individual journey back to your center where your true identity is.........your own awareness of your true self. The only guage you need is that Love always lifts you up, soothes you, makes you feel stronger. Love is a breath of fresh air. Nothing on the outside of you can give it to you and nothing can take it away. It's really all about you and your own search to re-connect to your own spirit and your own relationship with your creator. Spirit is easy . . . . . . . . Religion is the only thing that's hard.

The only way to get answers is to keep studying the Bible.
As your Bible knowledge grows you will get better understanding.
The main problem is we must take the Bible as a whole in context. It takes a year to read the Bible if you read a few chapters every night. That is just reading and not digging into it and finding answers.
It takes a lot of work but if you are truly looking for answers, you will be amazed at how it all fits together and does make sense.
The main thing is, do not listen to what people tell you. Let them show you the scriptures. See it for yourself. If the scriptures seem to conflict, let them show you more scriptures that show why it is not a conflict.

That is not a bad idea....not having relationships with 'religious' people. The truth is in your hand, the Bible, Old and New testaments. Yahshua said you shall have ONE RABBI, ONE TEACHER, and that was Him, and He taught the Old testament. The protestants, JW's, Mormons and all the rest stray from the truth....they accept parts of scripture they like, and throw out what they don't like.
I would suggest, if you want to find peace, start observing the SABBATH DAY, which at the moment, is SATURDAY on the roman calendar.(Sabbath is different biblically speaking, but for now, it is acceptable). Sabbath, taking a day of rest from YOUR WORKS, is very important. It gives your body rest, and it gives you time to keep a HOLY DAY, a time to worship God and read His Word. Start from there, and I think you will find peace.

The problem is that you think too much. That's not a criticism, it's intended to be a compliment. Keep thinking until you think yourself right out of the church altogether. There are other routes to peace and enlightenment, one that will make sense to you, even though Christians will never tell you that. Once you see that there is no heaven or hell to worry about, just this life here, you'll treat it with more respect instead of waiting for another that's not there.
Don't ever be afraid to think for yourself and question anything under the sun that you want to and don't ever apologize for it. You'll find your peace if you find it yourself, your own peace, not someone else's.
