I want to make my own number but every time I put in number 1 then go to the next line, it automatically gets to number 2 on its own and I don't want it doing that. The list I copied and pasted from somewhere else is already numbered and I was trying to put something besides each statement but it continued to be numbered. How do I turn it off? The help menu and office asst. was no help.

In Microsoft Word, go to TOOLS.Scroll down to AUTO CORRECT.Select AUTOFORMAT AS YOU TYPE. If there is a check mark in AUTOMATIC NUMBERED LIST, then remove the check mark.

This will turn off automatic numbering.

once you initiate a numbered or bulleted checklist, the indent of textual content cloth from the variety is desperate by default, probable .63cm which isn't sufficient once you have extra digits and subsequently it is going to the subsequent tab placing. subsequently spotlight your checklist, impressive button of mouse, all the way down to bullets and numbering, click personalize and then exchange the indent area, if the variety has indented from the margin, I recommend you're taking it from .sixty 3 returned to O then the different 2 indents, set the two at .7cm. I oftentimes locate it is amazingly sufficient, yet determine you do the two in any different case if any variety is going to a 2d line it heavily isn't consistent with the 1st line.

The easiest way to do this is to backspace when a number comes up. Each time you want to start the numbering again, type it in and I think it will continue as it did to begin with. If you don't want it, just backspace.

To avoid the automatically number, deselect the Numbering tab (the one that has 123 on it) before you type your number.
