Hmmm..seems like you are making a whole lot of generalizations here. And generalizations are the first part of ignorance. Do all atheist hate religious people- I dont know but I would guess not.
In fact Christ directly tell believers to especially love those who have different beliefs then you do for how hard is it to love one of your own

LOL I must not read the right questions and answers in here because I just don't see why people keep on asking about why "religious" or "Christians" or any of the other beliefs "hate" Atheists...
(unless it's because so many of us tend to spell "Atheist" wrong?)
(or maybe it's because many of us really really DISLIKE the word "religious"?)
You are very correct about how we are to love our neighbor, no matter whom they are or aren't.
But...love also has so much more involved then what most people assume it to be.
Sometimes, it shows love more to speak up then to stay quiet.
Peace be with you :)

You have been decieved; religious people don't hate atheists. Hatred comes from the other side of the track. Atheists look like religious people. People look like people. Personally, I've only met one admitted/self- proclaimed atheist in my lifetime; he brought me to tears, he was so, lost! In fact, I was always crying around him ( I hate to cry, but sometimes you've got to let a good one out!) Crying and praying, crying and praying is all I'd did. He was a wheel-chair-artist who painted beautiful paintings! I was his home health nurse. One day, he actually stopped me while I was rearranging his paints and crying yet again.I was never a loud boo-hoo-er, but I'd dropped a lot of tears. When asked why the tears, I Told him I was grieving; my daughter and husband had died years before I'd met him and I was not grieving for them, like he thought. This man, being an artist and never knew my family, had painted a picture with a very close likeness of my daughter. I was crying for this man, being an atheist would never meet my daughter because she was in heaven and he would go nowhere when it was time for him to die. He still did'nt understand nor believe in God when he died 3-years later. He had lots of family and lots of friends while while I was taking care of him. His art and works were well known and announced in all the papers regularly. When he died, two people besides me and the minister officiating over his burial. To answer your question, religious folks and atheist folks don't usually run in the same circles; its not about hate, but opportunity. There is plenty that can be talked about. May God bless you.

Where did you get your ideas from? You obviously know nothing about a true Christian believer, or you couldn't ask that question. Why? Because Jesus taught to love your enemies, and do good to those that hate you. ...and to Love your neighbor as yourself. Anyone who professes to be "religious" may not truly be a believer, because a Christian is a "follower of Christ".
Religion is often false...a front...and not real. A real Christian practices what he preaches....but the "religious" do a lot of things in the name of "religion". It won't get him to heaven, and they are often giving people like you a false impression.
Jesus taught us to love each other....and everyone. That kind of love only comes from God. We are taught to forgive those who do things against us. And to listen to what God teaches in His word. That is not "religion". It is a personal relationship with Jesus.
Big difference!
And why should they hate atheists...who are just people who don't believe there is a God? God says we are to share Who He is with them...but it is ultimately their choice....

You said the right word, "religious". That has nothing to do with the God I serve! He is a God of love but He also states the things he hate in Romans 1:18-32. It states in verse 18, "For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness. So we choose our own path to disregard God's Word and be in the dark. Read the Word for yourself and go to a Bible teaching church. You'll be amazed at the things God reveal to those that love Him! There is a God and a man in the heavens and that man is Christ Jesus. He mediates between us and God the Father for our salvation. You can't see the air you breath but you know that it exist because you are alive. You will have to close your eyes in death one day and that is beyond your control. No man keeps the world on it's axis in space. Only a God of creation can cause the oceans to stay in their boundaries! Think with your heart and not with your head. God Bless you and I love you with the love of God. (1 John 4:7,8)

You are 100% right. However, if one professes to really love God then they should not hate anyone. Anyone who truly lives by what God tells us knows that he clearly stated we should love our enemies. So any "christian" or "religious" person who says that they hate atheists or anyone else for that matter is a bad representation of what Christianity is all about.

Since you mentioned love in conjunction with religious beliefs I'm going to assume you're asking about religions founded on love (as opposed to religions founded on hate)...Christianity certainly and perhaps some others?
Speaking only for myself, I don't hate atheists and I don't know a single member of my church that hates atheists either. I've never heard a message from my pastor telling me to hate atheists. In fact, quite the reverse I would say...my "religion" tells me to love my enemy.
Note the deliberate use of the term enemy...atheism is an enemy of my religion and I, like at least some that share my religion view atheism as a tool of satan used to control and eventually destroy people that are deceived by it. However, unlike at least some of the Christians I know, I understand the difference between hating the philosophy and hating the person.
I truly do love people enough to respect their right to choose whether to acknowledge God or to deny his existence (or anything else related to philosophy)...I have no desire to deny my own right to choose what to believe by suggesting that someone else doesn't have the same right!
The essential "commandment" of Christianity is simple, love God and love each other as God has loved you. According to I Corinthians 13, love is patient and kind, it does not envy, does not boast, is not rude, self-seeking or easily angered. As such, hate is impatient, unkind, envious, boastful, rude, self-seeking and angry.
Christians that treat atheists with hate need to examine their own beliefs and the understanding of what God asks them to do to serve him. This doesn't mean that they aren't human and won't make mistakes, but consistently treating anyone to a dose of hate is a pretty big "plank" that a Christian should remove before he or she starts "speck" hunting through the ranks of others (believers or non-believers)...see Matthew 7:5!

I am really starting to loose my patience with people who accuse me of not loving others. I am a true Christian. I believe I MUST love all people. I pray for God to help me find the right words to witness to others. I try to be the salt and light in a dark world.
I can not speak for every Christian. I am sure that many are tired of being discriminated against just because we are Christian.
Honestly, why do you think a Christian would hate an atheist? I personally become weary of atheists who consistently degrade my beliefs. I personally become weary of atheists who disregard my actions. But, I continue to love and pray for the atheists that need to know love.

I don't think religions hate atheists. it's amore of a missunderstanding and lack of cummunication and also a lack evidenc and lack of faith on each side. Each side has to be willing to open their mind and heart and do some constructive research. What makes common sence and what does not.
talk a bout what we have incomon and what we don't WE are all on this earth and we all didn't get here different ways. If you want some good books that deal with this aspect of beleifs I will be glade to send you some .they will be new. no trick or gags no obligation
Zsincerely yours,

who says we don't? and why are atheists allowed to spew hate filled anti-Christian messages? i mean they push and push and push until we say something back, and suddenly we are the hate mongers. how about this...why do we dislike jerks who are constantly attacking us and our faith? why are we expected to take and take and take? i mean we turn the other cheek, but that isn't good enough, that one gets slapped also. why don't you read the questions and count how many are directly aimed at Christians with the intent of insult. and then you ask why we don't love. we get angry because we are constantly being dissected and insulted. but being angry does not mean we do not love, and if atheists can't tell the difference, then maybe they need to discover what the words really mean. when an atheist comes in with a militant attitude and purposely insult our faith and runs away saying "look what they did to me" people need to see what they did. if you are atheist, then fine, but quit belittleing me for my faith. you don't want to believe the Bible, that we didn't write in the first place and take verses from it to point out our flaws for your benefit, then you call us names all the while blaming us for all the worlds ills. the world is a mess because people refuse to follow laws of the Bible and hurt others. ask atheists why they don't respect Christians, and belittle them awhile. our cheeks are hurting from the many times we have turned them to get hit again.
