They like to think that they are persecuted because the bible says they will be. Being persecuted would prove the bible correct to them and make them true christians.
In fact, it is all in their head. They like to feel sorry for themselves while actually perscuting others whose beliefs are different from their own.

Actually, Christians don't enjoy being persecuted. You can't enjoy something that isn't happening. While there are some places where christians are ACTUALLY persecuted (see the response by solarius above for more on that), the ones who come on here and complain about it don't live in those places.
They just like to make up stories about how horribly mistreated they are, because they don't have absolute unquestioned power over every aspect of every person's life on the planet. They think it gives them an excuse to codify their beliefs into law, and persecute anyone who disagrees with them. They like accusing others of doing the very things they themselves want to do.
The whole thing is an insult to everyone, Christian or not, who has ever suffered REAL persecution.

I'm a Christian, and don't want to embrace the victim mentality. I have no interest in painting myself as some poor, cowering little Christian who's being picked on by big, bad non-believing bullies. I have a lot of non-believers as friends, and we get along fine.
When I was a kid, I was harassed about my religion, but the culprits were--get this--other Christians. There were Fundamentalists in our area who thought that my denomination was a "cult", and they saw that as an excuse to actively harass both me and my family.
However, having said all that, there actually is persecution of Christians in the world. There are Christians who are literally dying for their beliefs in some countries. They are being persecuted. I am not. The Christians who are really being jailed, tortured, run out of their homes, and beaten for their faith likely do not enjoy it one little bit.

Theist here. The only time I ever had to be brave was right before my dad kicked my *** for any of a thousand different "reasons".

It's the atheists who complain the most. Especially the black ones, with both axes.
