I think that is absolutely ridiculous. I can totally understand the concern for the adoptive father to pass away while the child is growing up, but that is absolutely no reason to deny that child to be adopted by a loving family. I also thinks it's contradictory. They let this overweight man adopt another child, so why is he all of a sudden too fat for this baby? I think it is appaling that this court will deny that child to be with actual relatives of his, because this man is overweight. I think it would be more important to have the child with good parents, and it would be a bonus that the adoptive parents are blood related.

This burns me to the core. I couldn't be more furious and I am not even involved in the situation! This guy is obviously fully capable of getting around and caring for the child. A family member of mind wasn't able to adopt, but she was 500lbs at the time... she is now well under 200 and is going to attempt again when her health is back up to speed. I just don't know about the world we're living in anymore. Are they going to start denying every fat person parental rights????

No. You're not of legal age. What about your parents or her parents, are they interested in adopting the baby? As for her needing the father's permission, I'm not so sure about that one. You might need to look into that because I don't know if she does or not. But what about his family, would they want to take care of the baby? I'd hate for the baby to be neglected or to fall into the system. There's not much time to act. Are you sure she won't straighten up after the baby is born? Maybe you can counsel her or have her go to some parenting classes (and offer to go with her for support) so that she can be prepared.

I don't think that right to do that to them. It wrong. I think the judge have a something I know I can't remember it called. They would need to fight it and would get a really good lawyer and get a different judge. I think that wrong it shouldn't be anything wrong with them adopting that little boy they been taking care of since it was one month old

absolutely yesssssssssssssss i think that no matter what your waistline measures your capable of taking care of a child. they should be thank full that he took over that baby . we see people every day in the news that are accused of beating and kicking and God knows what else to there own children . i think that is a case of racism and nothing else , what is happening to this country ,???

I havent seen the story - do you have a link?

Was it the child or the father who was too fat?

Also its one thing if the parents were medically unable, possibly bedridden, I could understand that. If not, Id probably agree with you.

I think it's wrong. They say now though to adopt a child, you must be a healthy, fit parent which is completely ridiculous.

I think as long as they are good to the kids, they should get to keep him, but i'm sure their concern with his weight wasn't out of meanness, i'm sure they were thinking of his health. You want someone to be in good health to adopt a child, otherwise it's pointless to adopt them, cause then you die, and they'll be homeless the next month!

To be quite frank It is discus ting....Not be offensive but people who are overweight seam to be the people who are the most compassionate and caring. they know how it feels to be hurt.....so they seem to care and love even more. If he can get up to take care of the child, which only he can say if he is able to, then he should be aloud to keep the child.

I think if these people have been caring for this child and that if they have been giving good care that it should be held as evidence that they are capable of caring for the child.
