First of all, you need good grades in your first 4 years of college (pre-med). Also, MCATS are extremely important. The GPA of a 3.7 with an MCAT score of 30 or above should get you into a decent medical school. If you are looking at Harvard or Hopkins...try top notch GPA with a 38 or above MCAT score.

My suggestions would be to attend college first if you have the funds to pay for it. It seem you have brains on your side and some degree of what you want in life. The military is a great option you can look at after graduation and if you join the service they will help with tuition reimbursement. These are options available. West point is not a school you can just apply to. It is a very prestegious school that I believe requires a letter from a congressman and most schools are already looking at their applicants for the next school year. You have good SAT scores but ivy league schools demand higher. The military is much more than academics, it is a life style. You would also have to score high on the ASVAB test to qualify for an officer. Once you finish school the doors of opportunity will open for you then you can evaluate the options. The military will offer a commission with a two year degree to a first lt, but require a four degree to advance to captain and above. Being in the military trying to go to school at the same time is difficult. Focus on your education first.

If you are in the US, Medical Degrees are graduate degrees. They will look at your University GPA, but not at your High School GPA.
That doesn't mean that the HS GPA is unimportant. Your chances of getting into medical school improve if you go to a good college. And having a high GPA will help get you into a good college.

You need a high enough GPA in HS to get into a good college where you'll need to graduate w/a Bachelors degree w/honors & @ least a 3.8 + GPA to apply to med school. It takes 8 years of college for a medical degree... so work hard the first 4 so you can apply & be accepted w/out worry.

It all depends on the school you wish to go to. If you are planning ivy league 3.8 at the lowest is what I recommend. If it's just a state school 3.5, but don't just concentrate on your GPA get some extra curriculars in as well. I had a professor tell me that they were excepted into a graduate program with a 3.8 GPA instead of a 4.0 because people with 4.0 will do anything to get an A, and they weren't as trustworthy.

college GPA is what counts, not high school. I would say 3.75 in college at a minimum, plus you have to get super high scores on entrance exams and go thru interviews, etc
