In my family, I'm the last one to know anything. I just knew my great-grandmother was sick, and found out from talking to my cousin that she's dying of lung cancer. No one was going to tell me till she was on her death bed. I didn't know my brother dropped out of school or had a drug problem until after my cousins who live hundreds of miles away. I also didn't know my brother, whom I'm very close to, joined the marines until I overheard my mom talking to my grandmother on the phone TWO WEEKS LATER!!! I also found out my mom was engaged through my grandma, who assumed I already knew about a month later, and my mom still has never officially "told" me. It just makes me mad that I have to hear things from other people even when it concerns me, which it has on occasion. How can I tell my parents I feel left out without making it seem I blame them for not telling me anything, though I do, I just don't want to make them feel guilty. I know they are probably just trying to protect me.

I live with my mom and step-dad, and see my dad every other weekend and on wednesdays. and i talk to him on the phone everyday. The only reason I know the things I do is because people let it slip during conversations, or I overhear it.

After you have gotten all your responses to the question, print them out. Then simply ask your parents the same question with paper in hand and say...I want to see if any of your explanations match with what others think. This will open the line of communication between you and your parents. Hopefully it will be quite humorous and the point well taken. WARNING! You might also be grounded from the computer if they don't like what they hear! LOL - Nancie

If you live in the house with your family, the only reason you don't know what is going on, is you don't have conversations with anyone. You have to become involved with the family for them to talk to you. If you distance yourself from them, why should they talk to you. You need to make yourself part of the family, not just be in the famliy.
