I'm thinking about seeing a concert there and will be traveling with my friends at night, is it particularly dangerous compared to other parts of NY?

are you going to McCarren Park Pool for this concert?
I was there a couple of weeks ago and it was fine. Usually it's pretty safe in the area..and once the concert ends..there will be a lot of people emptying out of the venue. Like all places it's always safer to travel in a group.

***While I was there...there was a lot of police at the venue...felt very safe. I drove to McCarren and left right after the concert ended but we saw tons of ppl walking to the subway...

living in queens all my life, and working in the transportation business, I've been around the city a few times, and what I can recommend is DONT' STICK OUT BY LOOKING LIKE A TOURIST OR WEARING HUGE GOLD CHAINS AT 3 IN THE MORNING IN PARTS OF THE CITY WHERE GOLD IS FOOD. The reason people get mugged is because 80% of the time their looking for it, maybe not purposely, but they put themselves in messed up situations. Last month some lady got raped in prospect park...look the the circumstances... 4 in the morning jogging, with a tight *** mini short and a tight small top jogging. Any man with hormones would instantly had already torn her apart in his head....some people just take that to the next level.

Go about your business, and you should be fine. I'm 22 years old, never got mugged or assaulted, and I usually go out at night to the "nicer" parts of town. And another thing...don't think "brooklyn" is dangerous, I'm a strong believer that you attract stuff to you, and that could happen anywhere, here in brooklyn, in LA, Chicago, or in some small town in nebraska, look at what happened at columbina a few years back. **** is inevitable

Brooklyn, like Manhattan, Bronx, Staten Island, Queens, Weschester County, Nassau County, and Northeast NJ have their good and bad areas. I always told people who visit the New York Tri-State area, do not act like a tourist, much less drive like one. Keep in mind I have never lived there, but visited many times due to having family there.

I've lived here 12 years and have ran around Brooklyn at midnight before and it was pretty safe. Bedford Stuy in one of the only dangerous neighborhoods in Brooklyn and most of Broonlyn I've been to is safe.

for brooklyn, Greenpoint is one of the safer areas. Yes it has its bad spots but that isn't one of them
