The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.
Thou shalt not go up and down as a talebearer among thy people: neither shalt thou stand against the blood of thy neighbour: I am the LORD.
Is not your telling of tales contemptible?

How do you know this person is a Christian? You are making assumptions because of the name.
I have rarely met a true Christian - someone who understands what Christianity is about.
My father was an Anglican priest and he never said that he was a Christian, he said that every day he tried to be a Christian.
We make too many assumptions. I have a much loved acquaintance who has a Muslim name, but he's not Muslim and never was. A Muslim work colleague berated him for not observing Ramadan. He retaliated with, 'Just because I come from a predominantly Muslim country, it doesn't mean I'm Muslim.' 'What are you?' His reply, 'My religion is my business and private.'

I would feel angry and offended, just as you are. As a Christian, I feel this person (did they CLAIM to be a Christian, and then say this???) betrayed Christ by being a crass moron.
BTW, don't be decieved by whatever avatar this person is using. They may "look" old, but the picture you see may not represent them at all. I have talked to people on line that assume different ages, genders, levels of education, etc, as part of their on-line persona. Some people resort to such deceptions as part of a self-defense mechanism, others do it because they like to fool others.
They can fool your eyes, but their actions and words speak louder than their graphics.
Peace.

My heart goes out to you for the loss of your brother. Sigh...your heart must be broken. I too recently had a family member die just last month in a tragic accident. I am truly sorry for your feelings being hurt. So, I spent some time searching the scripture for how as a believer in Christ is to address such issues. Here are just a few. I hope it will be an encouragement to you. Hugs to you...I prayed for you. Your friend, Puka.
"A man's wisdom gives him patience; it is to his glory to overlook an offense." Proverbs 19:11
"If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even 'sinners' love those who love them. And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even 'sinners' do that. And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even 'sinners' lend to 'sinners,' expecting to be repaid in full. But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. Luke 6:27-36
"For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins." Matthew 6:14-15

I am a Christian and I get real hate mail worse than that from so called Christians and I will tell you right now. They're trolls posing as Christians. Christians don't mock people or name call or say rude hurtful things to people like that. They are not Christians but trolls trying to make Christians look bad.

If it wasn't meant as a joke (and I don't know why it would be but some friends banter like this) then I wouldn't say that was very Christian of them and if they were a true Christian then they should apologise if it has offended you.

you will always get the odd few nutters from any religion, so i wouldn't hold the 'he's a christian' up too long, although on YA you do get an increase in the number of angry folk who ''claim'' to be christian.

Oh yeah! I bet you that's not the last time you'd get those. They get very nasty and threaten you sometimes. I turned off my email from receiving messages because of the fundies. Just ignore them.
